Hive idea

in #hive18 days ago

An idea, what would be the opinion, thoughts on, if i made a 'hive help' community so users can ask the questions about hive (ON hive;-) ) I've been pestering @savvyplayer about for weeks now (many thanks :-) )

And get answers, or see if a similar question has been asked, and find some answers?
It might help some of the hive community from forever answering the same questions.

There might be such a community, i don't know.

Its just an idea.
Clearly i cant answer hive questions (yet)
Thoughts anyone?

while it was still upThere used to be an active Question & Answer app built on Hive which was #Reverio (https://reverio.io ) that has a community at https://ecency.com/created/hive-125205, though it !WEIRDly just went down just about 13 months ago. 🤔🤯

I would not recommend that you create yet another Hive community, unless you !INDEED have enough experience on Hive and have good plans on how to manage it in the long term (so that it can continue being active even if you no longer have time and/or interest for it). 🧘‍♂️🤓 !DIY

I can't answer questions obviously! But could be a place where people can find answers or resourses.
One thing I find odd is that to get answers about hive, apart from your good self, I go to brave AI or the things on discord or youtube.
If even your answers to my questions were in a community then they would be available to everybody.
And also easier to refer back to.

With other communities I set it up for others to also manage.
Tho idea is to simply set it up so anybody can ask and anybody can answer, also that users know where to go to find that answer! As personally at the moment an answer is somewhere in 99+ replies

Thanks for your reply !indeed.

Search for people to find something they want to find on Hive. 🤔 That's useful for both old and new Hive users !INDEED. 😎I would recommend using #Ecency

Anyway, I wonder if the !help command would still work for newcomers on Hive. 🤯🤓 !DIY

@HelpHive picked up the ! help command. Some ideas if you need help...

  1. Get help from others: (1) The HelpHive team has been signaled. Wait for a reply from a team member. The team is made of volunteers who will try to answer questions or direct you toward an answer. Please be patient though, they are real people who work, eat, sleep, and lead real lives too! 🙂 The goal is to get back within 24 hours. (2) Join "The Terminal" server in Discord and ask there. The Terminal has friendly people whose top mission is to help Hive users every day.
  2. Help yourself: (1) Do a regular internet search. Be sure to include "Hive" in the query. (2) Let the HiveDesk AI tool by finguru do the heavy work for you. See an example. (3) Check the resources such as HiveWiki.

To me, it's actually finding help the help command (not tried it) would be great if new people, like me, knew it existed !indeed

Perhaps you may want to share the ! help command (no space) with Hive newcomers that are stuck on basic Hive functions. 🤓 You may also direct them to the The Terminal #Discord "server". 😏 !LOLZ !DIY

I tried the discord channel but couldn't get there. I do find it odd that the how-to-hive, is usually not on hive.

I wonder what happened that caused the invitation link to not work for you. 🤯😅

Ah, your link worked !indeed.

It's weird indeed that many conversations about Hive (such as issues in particular) take place outside of Hive. 🤯😅

The help command might be useful yes, but how is a new user going to find it?
I've only just found it and this is weeks later !indeed

! HELP (without the space). The bot replies with tips and some volunteers try to offer help.Hi there, I made the @helphive account a while back and set up s bot to listen for anyone using the command

To be honest, it gets very little action. I think the catch-22 is that people new to Hive have the questions, but simply don't know about this option. I think setting up a community is nice, but would result in the same thing - little activity. Not trying to discourage you, Judy my feeling.

This sounds interesting, is it a community, what ya do? Type !help?

Not an official Hive community, just some volunteers (the users who got pinged by the HELP command) who are willing to try to answer questions. If you're interested, I can put you "on the list."

I'm struggling with hive so can't help anybody, but don't mind making a community where I can post solutions I've found, or a more obvious place where users can go to get answers to questions, including myself.

I think it's still a good idea !INDEED if you find other Hive willing and able users which will help you manage a "Hive help" community before you create it. 🤔🤓 !DIY

Dunno how I'm going to do that, other places I simply list help resources, for me even that would have be good, right now I post them to my website so that if people wanna know something, then that's there, tho that's only usful for people I either send there or have arrived there.

It's not practical to create another Hive help or Q&A community here on Hive if you are simply going to publish help resources. 🤔 Just think that I !love answering other people's questions about Hive, yet I don't consider at all creating such help community. 🤯😅 !DIY

I like playing with communities!
I was thinking for help the only obvious thing to do was search for a help community.
I did find one but it didn't seem to help.
It was suggested that I not make a community, but would be a place where people could help each other.
I'm in no position to help anybody tho.
Even if the only thing a community did was say type! Help () that would for me anyway be an improvement.
Also add links to videos on help or even the existing hive stuff.I find myself searching for hive help almost anywhere but on hive tho @savvyplayer has helped me loads.

It's !INDEED not a good idea (at least for me) to create a help community here on Hive unless you both are active enough on Hive and can frequently answer others' questions. 🤯🤓 !DIY

Tempted to just make it resources then, and open.

Search to search for basically any post and/or comment published on Hive, including help questions and answers. 😎😏 !HOPE !DIYEven if you or someone else creates such community, only a few very percentage of Hive users will search for answers and/or answer questions there, because it would only be one of so many Hive communities (where there are already other Q&A Hive communities which stopped being active). 🤯🤓 I would recommend using #Ecency

I did at the start try finding such a help community !Indeed

Even if you could find such other help communities, they are most likely inactive !INDEED, so you would get stuck with old questions (and answers) there. 🤯🤓 !DIY

Perhaps you should ask the leaders of the #Ecency and #PeakD projects (among other popular Hive frontends) to incorporate the #HelpHive project into their frontends (at least on their respective help pages). 😎🤓 !LOLZ !DIY

Hah! That's actually pretty hilarious...didn't notice until you pointed it out. I think I was in a hurry and did a quick voice-to-text on the go without really reading it.

Funny side story, I once got a voice mail that was auto-transcribed to and sent as a text. It said something about come by and "playing naked chicken". The message was about dropping by with some baked chicken. "Playing naked chicken" sounded like something entirely different!
