Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge: Grund
Hello Splinterfam! Here I am back again for this week's share your battle weekly challenge. For this week's challenge the monster featured is Grund, a melee attacker that hits twice and hits hard. This card is one of my favorite cards in earth splinter due to the damage it can dish out on a battle. This was the first card I maxed silver level in building my own silver deck because I really like this card because of its cool design and his ability which is double strike. Double strike is a very good ability, think of it as an extra monster at a cost of 1. For those of you who are new here I mainly play on silver league modern format only so I would talk about here will be mostly about that certain league. Now let's take a look at Grund's stats.
Grund
Edition: Chaos Legion
Rarity: Epic
Element: Earth
Attack: Melee
Abilities: Double Strike (Obtains Trample at level 5, Obtains Cripple at level 6)
Stats
If you take at look at his stats for silver level which requires 10 bcx, he got 4 melee attacks, 3 speed, 0 armor, and 11 health. Damage wise, he hits like a truck and hits twice so that means two trucks hitting you (lol), his speed is not bad he has no armor so he couldn't tank that good also his abilities are not for tanking so it is good if you could place him at the back and can attack. He has 11 health which is also ok but if you consider his mana cost he is quite expensive to use and also giant killer monsters will me a problem since he does not have any armor.
Synergies
For the summoner Immortalis is the best choice because of the abilities he gives to battle which is Void and Shatter which would benefit Grund because he doesn't have any tanking abilities and having a void increases his survivability a lot plus the shatter ability is good to have so that the second attack would land on opponent's health.
For rules, any rules that allows melee monster to attack from the back is good.
Melee Mayhem - Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position. (It is good because grund being at the back allows him to attack more because he can survive long enough)
Super Sneak - All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability. (Same idea as Melee Mayhem but this time it would be better to partner him up with melee monsters to fully utilize the sneak ability)
Equal Opportunity - All Monsters have the Opportunity ability. (This is the best rule to use Grund because he can easily kill opponent's monster because he targets the monster with the lowest health and attacks it twice)
Unprotected - Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs (Unprotected is also good rule to use Grund because of his Double Strike both attack will hit the health of the monster)
Battle
The rule sets were:
Close Range - Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
Weak Magic - Magic attacks hit Armor before reducing Health.
What Doesn't Kill You - All Monsters have the Enrage ability.
A 46 mana cap battle with Fire, Water, Earth, and Life Splinter available to use. My first thought in seeing the rules was being up against tank monster with high armor so I decided to use Immortalis due to his Shatter ability and as I have said the Void ability help with Grund survivability because he does not have any tanking ability. What Doesn't Kill You rule also is a good condition for me to use Grund because not only it increases Grund's attack it also increases his speed to increase the chance his attack would hit.
The line up I used was:
Immortalis - I used him because of his Shatter ability because I predicted the opponent to use a tank with a high shield due to the Weak Magic rule.
Grund - Serve as an off tank because I'm gonna use a taunt monster to make Grund survive longer to dish out more damage.
Mycelic Slipspawn - Serves as my tank due to his taunt ability I placed it at the 2nd slot so that I could heal him with Triage ability from Spirit Hoarder.
Goblin Psychic - To heal Grund since I am directing opponents attack to Mycelic Slipspawn it is easy to sustain Grund's health.
Spirit Hoarder - To heal Mycelic Slipspawn allowing him to tank a little longer.
Venari Seedsmith - I used Venari Seedsmith because of the rule Close Range. He is good because of his 3 attack damage and the scavenge ability is OP. I placed him on the 5th slot to serve as a tank for the 6th slot because of all the scavenge health will make him take a few hits if ever they burst my tanks.
Goblin Tower - An extra blast damage is good to have plus it also have a armor so it is a good choice for a filler slot.

Conclusion
Grund is a great card to use if are able to make him survivable. Using monsters with Taunt ability is the key to make this possible. He is good to be paired with Mycelic Splipspawn and Spirit Hoarder and the addition of Immortalis makes him even more usable because of that extra defense mechanism which is the Void ability. The battle went well and everything went according to plan, it's a good thing the opponent used monster with magic attack the Void ability made a difference in that battle allowing Mycelic Slipspawn to take a few more hits. I only use Grund on mid to high mana cap battle because of his mana cost which is 10 making him hard to use on low mana cap battles. Maybe next time I would try to use him solo. What do you think about Grund? Do you find him good? Let me know.
