Social Media Challenge: Battle Of The Mages
Hello Splinterfam. Here I am back again for this week's social media challenge. For this week's challeng I decided to share to you an awesome battle of the same summoner, Obsidian. For those of you who are new here I mainly play on silver league modern format but with the new update I play now on gold league but my card level is for silver league only. So I would mostly talk about strategies, gameplays, and battles on a silver level perspective.
Battle
The rules of the battle were:
Back to Basics - Monsters lose all abilities
Fire and Regret - All monsters have the return fire ability
Tis but Scratches - All monsters have the cripple ability
A 29 mana cap battle with Earth, and Dragon splinters available to use. Looking at the rules, this automatically shouts Obsidian because magic monsters are very good to use on Back to basics and the second rule forbids us to use range monster because of the return fire. It will only come up to the positioning of the monsters and which monster to use.
The Line up I used was:
Obsidian - I used Obsidian because she is good to use in back to basics rule and Immortalis is not viable to use here because of his higher manacost which would result to me having less monster.
Hill Giant - I used him because of his low mana cost and high health making him tank a few hits
Acid Shooter I used him for his low mana cost also and high health same idea as with Hill giant even though he is a range monster he would help my team by tanking a few attack.
Regal Peryton A very nice magic attacker on the earth element because of its high speed and flying ability wherein he could be dodgy but this is not the case here in this battle. I placed him third because of his damage, I place higher damaging magic attacker at the back.
Magi of Chaos - A very nice to have neutral card because of his high magic attack damage and a low mana cost plus it is a neutral which could fit in almost every line up. With Obsidian he hits like a truck that is why I always use him with Obsidian especially in back to basic since he has no ability in his silver level.
Goblin Psychic - I used him because of his decent magic attack damage. I placed him behind Magi of chaos because he has fewer health.
Djinn Biljka - I always use Djinn Biljka in my magic composition becuase of his low mana cost and high magic damage plus the camouflage ability is nice to have allowing him to survive longer, but in this scenario his damage and low mana cost is what was needed in this battle.

Conclusion
I just maxed my Obsidian for silver level this Feb and I am really happy that I got to buy her at this low price before the chaos legion packs become sold out in the market because the price of the chaos cards will move by this time and personally I think prices will move up assuming Bitcoin behaves (lol), that is why I am rushing all my cards to be maxed out silver level.
For the battle my opponent did not utilized Obsidian's ability because he use other cards that is not a magic attackers like Venari scout and his tank is high mana cost which compared to my tank Hill giant which has a higher health. He lacked the damage whereas for my line up I have the tankiness and the damage. The key to this kind of battle where back to basic is in effect is the positioning of the monsters knowing where to place them.
