My Steemit Censorship Concerns were Just Featured in CoinTelegraph

in #hive5 years ago

Hi Hive Fam!

I've been pretty vocal on twitter the last few days about how Justin Sun/Steemit Inc. is censoring posts they don't like/people they don't like and how laughable that is considering that the main value proposition for Steem is that it's supposed to be decentralized and censorship-free.

My twitter post talking about how Justin removed a neutral explainer video I made just walking people through the details of the hardfork and what they could expect ended up going semi-viral on twitter with a total of over 11k views and over 40k impressions to date.

I guess it was enough for Cointelegraph to pick up the story and spread some awareness for what is going on. You can check out the story HERE.

I thought it was funny that right after they quoted my video - they mentioned that the Tron Foundation had not responded to their request for comment. Seems like Justin has been getting a lot of backlash for this.

I've honestly had multiple tron friends send me direct messages telling me they are disgusted with Justin right now and they are really disappointed because they thought he actually stood for decentralization - where they are realizing now that he doesn't. I've never thought very highly of him, but his actions throughout this entire fiasco have really shown his true colors and I think even Tron people are starting to realize that.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share this article here on my NEW online home - Hive! I'm so proud to be part of this community and I'm glad to see that big crypto media outlets like CoinTelegraph are reporting on all of this.

Much love you guys!

XO, Lea

Well done! All this media attention is great for Hive and Sun deserves to be exposed for the authoritarian centralist he is. His values are completely antithetical to true crypto values.

Keep it up @coruscate. I feel fortunate to have people like you around since I can't be out there fighting and spreading the word. I can only be here, not getting censored, doing my thing. I won't even shit post on Steem for autovotes. If they want to censor things, it's easy to censor them back, simply by not giving anyone a reason to look.

crazy stuff - I thought your video was very well done and objective, but from others I know on who were on Steem, the Tron group seems to be a modern day blockchain Orwellian Ministry of Truth, so I'm not surprised by the move. On to better things on Hive, I say...

That's pretty cool that you were featured on CoinTelegraph. How were they able to remove your post? I'm not really up to speed on how that works. I didn't realize they had the capability to completely remove content. You mentioned that it is still visible in SteemPeak, which is what I used over there anyway, i got to see it before they attacked you i guess!

These are crazy times. I am glad to have switched over to Hive and have left Steem far behind me.
Justin Sun has shown his true colours and it’s crazy to see people still defending him, after his censorship.

This whole thing could have been handled far better than this.

Right on! I don’t think he realized what kinda battle he had ahead of him when taking on a blockchain of activists 😅 we don’t get along amongst ourselves till we have a bigger fish to fry 🤦‍♂️ Ahh well I e still did it like always!

It's important to keep that message out there so future crypto enthusiasts know which people and their projects to avoid..

kudos!

Congratulations on making a post that sent a message... it is great to make a statement that is heard. Sometimes it is like a tree falling in the wilderness... it fell but no one heard it fall! In this case you were heard!

Karma is going to slap him very hard, or it is already in the proces... lol! It is great that the crypto media is giving coverage to this situation, more good publicity for #Hive!

It's good that they picked up. It's a pitty that Mr sun makes fault after fault that cost a lot of people a lot of income and a way of life. Ok we have hive but some still don't know how to post on the steem or hive chain they don't understand what is happening to their blog platform. We all must have some patience I think.

That's some great publicity, thanks for the efforts!

He'll have to fork and rebrand everything himself now if he wants Steem to be a success.

I mean it might be an economic success several years down the road, as the masses don't give a toss about centralisation of social media, but for the next months and possibly years, he's stuck with a lemon - so much bad publicity.

Great job girl 😉

While I understand the legalities they’re trying to avoid, it still annoyed me that the headline was Justin Sun’s Steemit ‘Accused’ of Censoring Hive.

As I said on Twitter, in blockchain, there is no such thing as an ‘accusation’. It’s either a fact or not a fact because it’s written to the blockchain for all to see.

Justin Sun’s Steemit IS censoring Hive related content.

Well actually your comment is not factually correct in this context. The blockchain has no idea whether or not @coruscate's post was censored, because it was not censored at the blockchain level. This matter is not written on the blockchain, it is written on a website (steemit.com).
