Listening to this "Unchained" podcast recently a fellow spoke of coins or tokens and said he analyzes them with regard to three components: financial, utility, and social. It makes for a neat triangle. It also makes a for a neat format to try and analyze a coin or token without bias...which is a hard thing to do.

I've made two projects on Hive, actually Hive-Engine, that have tokens associated with them: @Luvshares (LUV) and @Hivebits (HBIT). I'll look at each and for each, I'll put a percent by the F. and U. and S. 100% would be incredibly high, like Bitcoin with a 100% Financial score or ETH with a high Utility percentage. The scores here are my totally subjective and unscientific numbers. 😄
Analyzing LUV
Financial - The LUV token has very little financial value. You can see tip token values here and Hive-Engine tokens here.
Percentage: 1%.
Utility - LUV has minimal utility. It cannot be used like a token in a laundry or at Chuck E. Cheese, but it can be considered a "token of appreciation." Saying, "Love your photograph," on Hive is one thing, adding an actual LUV token is a bit farther. Still, utility is minimal.
Percentage: 2%
Social - The entire purpose of LUV is to help spread love on the Hive chain. To that end, the token might help. Certainly, anyone can share love via kind words and this matters far more than a digital token. Still, the act of giving something, in this case a LUV token, is not nothing. It is a conscious act that one person decides to actively do for another person. It is something.
Percentage: 4%
Analyzing HBIT
Financial - HBIT is currently a bit more valuable than LUV. Also, HBIT has the characteristic of being entirely "mined", so to speak, via comments. Every single HBIT was released by someone's mining comment. In this way, each could be said to be backed by someone's effort. I will say this: three days ago I wrote about "HBIT-to-satoshi parity" which I feel is pretty neat.
Percentage: 3%
Percentage: 2%Utility - HBIT does not have utility like a laundry token. I did have a LUV/HBIT store at one point where things like NFTs could be purchased using those tokens, but I haven't checked on it in a while and it may be defunct. Perhaps the utility of HBIT lies in the built-in game of @Wusang. In the simple, simple game of chance, you (a) mined one HBIT per day, (b) have a chance of winning bonus treasure tokens, and (c) have a longshot chance of winning real bitcoin satoshis via ecash.
Social - The HBIT "tribe" is small, but it is loyal. A main tenet is daily mining and the miners are incredibly consistent in this daily task.
Percentage: 2%

Analyzing HIVE
Financial - HIVE has real financial value. HIVE itself, and especially HBD, can be valuated in real-world items. Whatever the USD value of something is, there is essentially the HBD value (and the HIVE value can be easily figured). If bitcoin is 100% for Financial, I'll put Hive at 80. Percentage: 80%
Utility - HIVE has real utility. You can do a lot with it: stake it, use it for games, buy anything from just about anyone either with HBD or, with the https://v4v.app, you can spend HIVE/HBD anywhere that bitcoin is accepted. Percentage: 90%
Social - HIVE ranks high on a social score. Hivers are small in number, but strong. The fork of 2020 likely strengthened the Hive resolve. And, Hive's first and maybe top utility is blogging...it gives an easy way to immutably record whatever you want on chain. Percentage: 90%

I'm fairly consistent with my use of both of these tip calls. Props for putting the effort in to build something. A rising tide lifts all ships, as they say, so maybe we'll see some real value across the board in the future.

Forgot to mention it in my other reply, but yes, commentrewarder is great and seems far too underused. When it first came out, I consistenly forgot to include it as a beneficiary when writing a post. I have a standard "new post" template that I use (has my little footer at the bottom), so...I finally built commentrewarder into the template so that now I don't have to remember.
That's exactly what I did! It's hard to remember everything, so the templates are helpful. Now I just need to get into a consistent posting gear. 🙄
