Initially, this was due to the free gas fees with the RC system. Several blockchains now have this mechanism and compete with each other in terms of benefits.
The only specialty Hive has left is people and social media. With the social media UI, finding information is easier than through Discord because there are too many people in one server. Sometimes people just want to be in a small community or circle and grow according to what they like. If someone just comes to the crowd and chats, sometimes there will be seniority bullying which should be eliminated but still exists today. They don't like new people and assume with negative thoughts (I experienced this when I joined one of the communities). With the social media UI, new members of Hive can choose who they want to interact with and that's cool. Stay positive!
