Hello friends, it has been awhile. I haven't posted in quite some time but I have still been around watching all of the great developments happening here on hive.
Which brings us to todays post about my first thoughts on two new games that have launched recently on hive, Golem Overlord and Terracore.
At first glance they seem very similar, but after a few days of play time they are showing their differences.
Both of these games are similar in that they are passive clicker type games. You accumulate resources passively and also by robbing other players while trying to build your character and fending off any would be robbers.
You will be robbed.
So don't take it personally. That's the name of the game in a post apocalyptic, far off planet type scenario. Get strong and get loot. What it takes to do that is where the differences in the games is starting to show itself.
Let's take a look at each game starting with Terracore.
In Terracore there are only a small group of beings on this planet. If we want to get out of here and explore the universe, it will take a community effort. Players may donate scrap to gain favor. (the first stat on the left) If you have enough favor you are guaranteed a seat on the ship to Oceanea. Once we hit 500,000 scrap we are outta here!
In the mean time....Scrap is the goal. Scrap it the token issued by Terracore. It doesn't matter where you find it.Get that $scrap! Beg borrow or steal.
Speaking of stealing....The rest of the stats on the left let you know how good you are at stealing.
ENGINEERING: Increases your passive mine rate
DAMAGE: Increases your crit chance
DEFENSE: Increases your dodge
STASH SIZE: Increases the amount of scrap you can hold before you claim
You may only claim scrap every 4 hours. When you claim it is put into your hive engine wallet until you choose what to do with it and cannot be stolen from you.
When fighting, a players defense will cancel the others attack so everyone is looking to pick on someone smaller than them...But that is how both of these games operate.
Only the strong survive!
Especially in a wasteland like the one shown in Golem Overlord.
Golem Overlord issues the part token and the shard token which will be used for buying in game loot chests.
First off with Golem Overlord there is a lot more going on in the HUD. It took me a good 15 minutes to figure out what was going on and how to claim my $parts. There are also more stats on the left. So let's break em down.
This game has passive leveling, The REPUTATION: Increases XP/hr
ALGORITHM: Increases part scavenging Multiplier
POWER: Increases Attack strength
FORTIFICATION: Increases Defense
GOLEM CHARGING STATION: Increases part savaging Base
FAITH: Increases the amount you can steal and $Shard chance
BANKED: Stake parts to increase amount of parts you can carry
Parts may only be collected every eight hours. That is something that needs to be taken into consideration when battling. There seems to be a lot more variables with this game which could lead to many different strategies in forming the ultimate Golem Overlord.
A huge difference between these two game is that GO offers protection from robbers. You can choose to cooldown and earn the passive part collecting without the fear of other Golems trying to take your precious parts.
I have only been playing Golem Overlord for 6 days and Terra core for 8 days So I'm sure there will be quite a few developments and A-HA moments in the future. I'm enjoying both of these games so far but let's look at the pros and cons.
At time of posting:
Terracore Scrap is trading at .17 and Golem Overlord Parts are trading at 2.19 WTF!??!!
Shards are at 1.40
So obviously everyone is jumping into the game with the big tokens. Which leads me to my first CON.
In Golem Overlord. More people means everyone is getting robbed more which in turn means there is less for you to rob and those parts are hard to come by. Plus you can only claim every 8 hours so attacks need to be timed well. Twice a day....3 if you don't sleep. Make em count!
In Terracore you still get robbed but not as much and you can find larger payouts.
Something that evens things out in GO is that if you fail....you have to pay parts to repair your golem. So there is a penalty for failure.
I like that PRO
While Terracore is clean and easy to use the one thing it is lacking is the activity window that Golem Overlord has. So a big PRO to GO on that one. It would be nice to see that info on the Terracore main page as well.
There is a lot that I am not hitting on here but this is just a general rundown and first thoughts.
Each game costs 20 hive to get started.
So if I was trying to choose between the two with only 20 hive in my pocket, my advice would be this.... If you are a new player who has never tried games like this, try out @terracore. It is easy to get started. Very clean and user friendly.
If you are someone who has more experience with these types of games and think you have unlocked the algorithm to unleash the ultimate Golem overlord then by all means head down that path and try to rob @kn0b0dy while you are there.
Thank you for reading this far through. It is great to see so much new development on the Hive blockchain. If there is interest in these two games.....which I think there might be. More to come.
