Everyone is feeling pretty jittery.
Some people are excited. Some sad. Some anxious. Some overworked. I imagine some are angry.
But there is one thing we can all agree on:
It's a brand new day.
It's kinda funny - cuz of the name I'm posting under on this new platform. This name has meant so much to me. It's become so much of my identity. @dreemsteem. Dreem. Steem. And now... it's irrelevant.
Because steem is still a part of me - so I guess it should be a part of my name.
Kinda like our scars. Do we hate our scars? Some do. But I tend to not hate them. Over time, I've come to appreciate what they mean.
They mean that a battle was waged- and we survived, and have the scars to prove it.
For me, steem didn't JUST have heartache in the last 5 weeks. I saw issues and problems before that and I wasn't the only one.
I saw a lack of concern (yes, it's my opinion) for the new user and I thought there were decisions that had some potential value, but were short-sighted. I saw people NOT valuing the community, because I think they didn't truly see a need to care.
Like all battles hard-fought, there comes a time where priorities change and perspectives shift. I'm writing on Hive today because I want to believe that what I saw in the last 5 weeks was an appreciation for people - for the community - for more communication - for not taking things for granted - for not valuing power and money over the individual. For individuals to fight together for what they believe in. For embarking on a new journey.
Will it be all of that?
I think I've also learned personally not to have naive expectations for a platform to fulfill such idealistic notions.
I'm posting here to be a part of it. To be a part of trying again.
And that's the beauty of these things. We can make mistakes and try again.
After all, to err is human.
And we are a bold, beautiful, diverse collection of unpredictable, creative, intelligent, emotional humans.
All of us. We make a wild mix. But it's our mix. We're here because we've chosen to be.
