In this post we would like to update everyone about discontinuation of SteemConnect.
It has been incredible few years serving all users and dapps on Steem, but now that we have migrated to Hive as Hivesigner. It is time to focus our time and effort making Hivesigner the best authentication service, it can be on Hive.
Sunset date
We are setting a date to stop SteemConnect services on 1st June, 2020.
We kindly request all Dapp developers to plan and inform their users about changes.
Migration options
We will actively be improving Hivesigner and encourage developers to build on Hive. But if for some reason you want to stay on Steem, please migrate to some other fork of SteemConnect - for example SteemLogin. We are not in any way connected with any forks, as always do your own research, audit and security of new forks.
Hivesigner development
For all new developers, visitors, SteemConnect will be redirecting everyone to Hivesigner homepage and help them get started with development on Hive. We will be adding FAQ and more detailed documentation on How to integrate Hivesigner to your website, How to authenticate with Hivesigner extension, How to sign transactions securely, etc. We have published roadmap and proposal to support continuous development of the project. Please read more about it here and support our effort bringing secure and social authentication to the masses.

I actually was unable to use SC to manage my wallet on STEEM yesterday. I thought it was already discontinued. Not sure what problem I was having, but good to hear your Hive Signer is taking it's place on the decentralized community version of the chain. Thanks for all you do.
Im new user, I tried 3 times to create an account on steem, but no success and i dont know the reason, now i'm happy by joining hive community and i hope to get pleasure time

Steemconnect stopped working for me on multiple dapps more than a week ago now.
June 1st is generous. Think Steem will still be functional by then?
It should be enough time for people to move most of their funds out and perform critical operations while they can.

We did just that freeze the development on SteemConnect. And focusing on Hivesigner.

The opening page of HiveSigner.com says: "Hivesigner neither store nor has access to your private keys."
You probably should change it to "Hivesigner neither stores nor has access to your private keys."
I wish you maintained services for both platforms. However, I realize that trying to do so would create a mess. At the time of the hardfork, everyone had the same credentials on both platforms. But these credentials will rapidly diverge.

Ultimately, it would be best if dapps revoke themselves during migration so that users don't have to hassle.I’ve always been confused why the home page doesn’t have these urls clear for everyone? The biggest problem I've encountered is related to actifit login. Actifit is divided into HIVE and Steem and steemconnect does not work. You must manually enter your username and password.

Great work, I knew we have some security concerns on SteemConnect like it was saving the tokens on the system. Using HiveSinger are we targeting these securities as well?
Could you elaborate? I wasn't involved in past discussions or issue reports of SteemConnect, will ask @fabien if there was any security concerns or reports.
I am not a hundred percent sure if it's a SteemConncet issue or a Dapp issue that has coded it like it. What happens when the authentication token gets generated, they were storing that token. Now the issue is, if someone will have access to that system can get all the tokens which will be a security lapse.
Authentication tokens are security feature of Hivesigner, it provides apps ability to perform actions with your consent. These has expiry time and easily invalidated in case of breach. If breach happens none of the web applications are safe anyway.
That's one of the reasons Esteem focused on standalone desktop and mobile applications which gives user security they deserve without relying on any third party websites.

I can not post using esteem.
I heard esteem migrated to hive chain, but when I open app it looks like its giving me notifications mixing both of the chains. And I can not post with esteem. When I tap on that publish button it does nothing.
Then I signed in to my account using hivesigner and tried posting sill no luck.
Am I only facing this problem or esteem is not working right now when it comes to make a post??
Are you using latest version? Please try standard login, instead of hivesigner for now. We have found one bug with hivesigner, fix is coming out soon.

I've got a bit of a problem hanging over one of my accounts. Steemconnect has owner authority over my @steemtaskr account. This was probably a hangover from how I originally set up my steemconnect app. How do I go about getting rid of that authority?
I think that since the permission and the threshold is set to 50% you can use the owner key of the account to remove the authorities from the steemconnect account.

No, Steem Keychain and SteemConnect is not related, separate tools/services.
