Introducing Groupvote

in #hive4 years ago (edited)

In this article I would like to introduce you to Groupvote through some (poor) drawings.

The idea behind Groupvote is that small accounts (ie. Less than 500HP) have a hard time getting noticed on the platform.
The top, high earning posts are usually (but not always) from large accounts:

But we're here to change that — Groupvote helps you earn free upvotes on your post. This helps you grow your account and lets you show off your talents to even more people!

Essentially, we use your Hive account to upvote other Groupvote members' posts. Later, when you post something, other members will automagically upvote your post!

Of course, you don't manually upvote anything. @groupvote (that's us) will automatically begin upvoting posts once you sign up

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this safe?

Yes. We ask for only your posting key (and that via Hivesigner) and cannot access your funds. Theoretically, your posting key would allow us to post/comment on your behalf, but we'd never do such a thing. Your posting key is only used to upvote posts on your behalf.

Will I get banned from Hive?

No. One of the beauties of Hive is that no one can "ban" you or delete your account. Moreover, this service is perfectly legal.
If you feel this service is not for you, you can leave at any time by simply revoking groupvote on Hivesigner.

How can I maximize the upvotes I get?

Great question!
For starters: do not sign up to services like SteemAuto! These services drain your upvote mana and your curation rewards are often sobering. Absolutely go for such services when you have higher voting power. For now, just don't.

Secondly: aim to convert all your HIVE and HBD into HP (in a process called powering up). This will increase your influence on the blockchain and will also increase the speed at which your account grows.

Finally, and most importantly: Post quality content. The most foolproof way to succeed on Hive is to post valuable content that the community will enjoy.
Obviously, don't copy-paste content from other places because that's just evil.
Join a community like OCD, GEMS, LeoFinance, OnChainArt (if you can draw better than I), Hive Gaming... I could go on.
When you choose a community, stick to it!

Before I leave you...

Please be aware that Groupvote strictly stands against vote harvesting of any kind. This is not a money making scheme and I do not intend to profit off it.
Moreover, Groupvote will automatically ban accounts that post in quick succession or post low-quality posts. The service is only meant to incentivize posting quality content.
Groupvote was created for one mission only: uplift small creators. I invite everywhale (and non-whale) reading this to watch me closely, lest I change directions.

You may join this service if you have less than 500HP total (including delegated), and have a reputation of less than 50.
You may not join if your account is part of a blocklist or have reputation below 25.

Thanks for reading till the end,
The Groupvote Team

Typically these schemes eventually turn into dust vote spamming on only the owner's accounts, leeching pennies from the reward pool at great cost to the Hive network. But your attitude towards those buying and holding HIVE confirms the leeching intent before it's even launched.

Hello @pfunk,
I stand by my statement. A cursory glance at HIVE's price for the last month reveals that this is not a coin that the average user would invest in, especially in face of more lucrative altcoins like RUNE.
Do not forget that only stakeholders like you have the resources to hodl HIVE during downtrends.

...dust vote spamming on only the owner's accounts

I'd make more money hosting ads on my website than leeching cents from the reward pool.
You don't realize the personal cost (in the form of time and server costs) I have taken in building this.
If I were to rely on dust voting to earn it back, I'd be in debt before year end.

But your attitude towards those buying and holding HIVE confirms the leeching intent before it's even launched.

Once again, a pitiful attempt to pin me down on my common sense statement.
You have yet to understand the great positive impact this can have on Hive, both in equality and in content quality/quantity. If we want Hive to be the next Facebook, we must make the platform something my 9 year old would want to use.

I could continue on and on about why Hive isn't growing as well as it could. But I suspect you see Groupvote as a threat to yourself. If this is true, tell me why you feel this way and I'll try my best to help you understand.

Thanks

PS: If you are satisfied with my answer, I request you to upvote this content because my reputation has taken a toll from your earlier downvote.

Sounds like vote for vote type of bull shit. There are so many projects out there that actually support smaller accounts.

We are one of those projects.

Minnow support project (MSP/PAL) comes to mind right away.

Groupvote might act as support for the tenkminnows project since both of them have similar goals.

Perhaps if people spent time on their thumbnails and headlines and understood content length doesn't matter and that only the way they communicate their content and ideas is what matters then this wouldn't be an issue for so many?

I personally wouldn't be comfortable giving out my keys to anyone for any reason (well except to @ryzeonline). But I do see what you're wanting to do but I think there may be better solutions.

Either way wishing you much success.
