Hive Survival Guide Second Edition!

in #hive5 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the Hive blockchain! As you may have noticed there are a lot of things that you will need to figure out in order to start posting/using the Hive blockchain so I have put this Survival Guide together to possibly help those trying to navigate how to do so.

The first edition of the Hive Survival Guide can be found here: https://peakd.com/hive/@jacobpeacock/hive-survival-guide

A French version of the first edition Hive Survival Guide can be found here: https://peakd.com/@laruche/traduction-guide-de-survie-de-hive

It is worth noting that I will be updating this Survival Guide with the release of newer versions as I find new things that might be helpful and the platform continues to develop. If you think that something should be included in this guide please leave a link to it in the comments of this post so that I can review it for addition in the next version.

If you need a history lesson on why there is a new Hive blockchain then the following article provides a good summation of events: https://cointelegraph.com/news/steem-community-resists-takeover-hard-fork-launches-hive-network

If you already have a Steem account and just want a quick crash course on how to login into Hive with your Steem credentials then read this: I Have A Steemit Account: How Do I Switch to Hive?

If you are an absolute beginner then I recommend reading over the following guide so that you can gain some general understanding about the Hive blockchain: https://peakd.com/hive/@remotehorst23/hive-beginner-tutorial

Personally I highly recommend using the https://peakd.com interface and logging in via Hivesigner, or using the Hive Keychain For Chrome, Opera, or Brave or Hive Keychain For Firefox or Hive Keychain On Github For Manual Installation or for mobile devices login using PeakLock

Please keep in mind that the Hive blockchain and all its associated projects are new and there will undoubtedly be things to fix and stuff that does not work correctly as well as new features and new projects being developed. Give it time and please be patient with those developing the blockchain and the applications that run on it!

Thanks for this compilation, I’ve been using steem/hive for 2 years now and there is still too much for me to keep track of :)

You are welcome! Yeah it is always evolving!

Lol! Too sleepy and still waking up. I tried to upvote your comment and accidentally voted on the post!

This is a fantastic list. So much good info in here. Thank you!

Good to hear! Thanks and you are quite welcome! :)

Cheers Jacob. You have a real knack for education. I've put you down as a moderator on the Beginners Tips Community. Feel free to get involved if/when you can.

Hey Thanks! I do the best that I can! :)

This time of year I am mostly busy outdoors but I will assuredly keep an eye on things. I love that there is now a Hive Beginners Tips Community and already have it included in the third version of the Hive Survival Guide that I am currently working on.

Cheers and Hive on!
