What is dCrops?

dCrops is a blockchain farming simulator on the Hive blockchain in which you acquire crops and land, and utilize them in order to compete on leaderboards for SHARES, which will grant you a percentage of the CROP per season, which lasts about 15 Days.

You can participate in quests, hold or sell your crops, and utilize boosters to speed up your crops.

How do you get started?

You can sign up and buy a Common ALPHA Crop and Land, and immediately start playing, however, you need 20000 CROP before you can begin to earn HIVE Rewards from holding your CROP. This can take a while to acquire, but if you purchase ALPHA Packs, you will gain 2000 Points to your CROP score as long as you hold them.

You gain CROP by selling shares and placing on the leaderboards, which is relatively easy to do, although the amount you will earn varies greatly depending on how many cards you have available to you.

With the Beta release, you'll have a chance to get new affordable in-game assets, land, and crops to get in on the game in its next stages. This should be happening around Q1 or Q2 of this year, so expect a good entry point around then for dCrops, including what will likely be a ton of new updates and features to go with this second expansion.

Current Values

CROP Token: Currently worth about $0.00255 which might not sound too appetizing until you realize that that's just below DEC currently.
dCROP ALPHA PACK: Originally purchased at $2, the packs are now worth about $5.84
COMMON LAND: Currently costs about 1.25 HIVE, or about $1
COMMON CROPS: Currently costs about 0.2 - 0.3 HIVE per Crop, or about $0.15-0.25

Minimum Starting Cost The (mostly) Free to Play Approach
In order to get started playing, you will simply need 1 Land and Crops, preferably 1 per Season, which will cost about 2 Hive for the minimum starting requirements. The downside to this is that you will NOT qualify for Hive rewards, and you will need to work your way up slowly, using your progress to get new Crops, Lands, and CROP Token to reach that 20k, which will take a while.

Recommended Starting Cost The Little League Investor
I actually recommend buying the 20,000 CROP up front to begin earning Hive Rewards, which costs about 40-50 Hive, on top of buying multiple lands and crops, in order to maximize earnings, I believe 75 Hive would be a pretty solid starting point, getting you a decent array of Crops for each season, and immediate access to Hive rewards.

Thoughts and Goals

My personal thoughts on dCrops are that it's a blockchain project in its infancy, and it has a lot of room and potential to grow from here: Those growth points may be very rocky, and it is still taking root, but the harvest it may yield might be worthwhile once the game is out of Beta, keep in mind that we are in a public Alpha right now, representing the absolute bare bones of the project.

My goals are to accumulate 20,000 CROP to begin accruing Hive Rewards, and to invest into the next Beta Packs in order to grow my position in the game and quickly build more assets. I also want to grow big enough in this game to start doing Giveaways, similar to my Rising Star and Splinterlands Giveaways. Don't worry, there's one at the end of this, but I probably won't be doing any others until I've grown a bit more...

I look forward to Cooking, Crafting, and possibly Buildings/Workers in future installments and I am hopeful that each expansion will inform the previous, expanding on it and continuing to reward investors long after the cards have released.
