RE: 🌐 #CometCrew Mission Report - #CometWeek HQ ☄️

in #hive3 years ago

@comet.ranker and @wil.metcalfe I am currently following both of you. However, if @comet.ranker account is going to be used as a tool to highlight Hive infighting (see all the recent reblogs by the comet.ranker account) I will no longer be able to support it.

Although I do not disagree with your stance, I do feel @comet.ranker and the missions need to stay away from that mess.

Sort:

Thank you for your feedback Joe. @Comet.Ranker is meant to be a force for social change on the blockchain. That means that we highlight and target important posts that are both positive AND some that are negative with the hopes that positive engagement can happen around them. It is our intent to not highlight the negativity but turn something considered bad into something good.

If you look past the actual content of the post... you will notice that the magic is happening in the comments... it is the comments that I am highlighting.

Thank you for your feedback... but I want you to be able to trust why it is that I decide to target a post in the first place Joe... we can’t just highlight the fluffy stuff that makes us happy (although I do love those sorts of posts as well! 😉) but we must all collectively look at and know what is actually happening on this blockchain if we are to improve this social environment we all call our digital homes.

So again...

There are very good reasons WHY these posts have been highlighted... will this be a regular occurrence? It is my sincere hope that it is not... but that really depends on what is going on with the blockchain... and what needs to be highlighted...

Context is all about both the light and the shadow... In fact... it is impossible to see the world without realizing that things are relative... and they are also made out of different things... if we only focus on the sun... we won’t see the shadows that give us context and perspective.

This is my intent.

If it’s not for you then of course I appreciate that your at least giving me feedback.

I appreciate you Joe... and I know that your a man who knows how to find the positive.

I hope you will join me in doing the hard work of turning negative things into positive collective wins on the blockchain.

THIS is so so needed.

Sincerely,

@wil.metcalfe

@wil.metcalfe I think it will draw negative and unwanted attention to comet.ranker, the positive mission, and the people it is meant to support. You and I may be able to afford that, many associated with it can't. I wish you the best.

Thanks for voicing your opinion Joe. The idea of @Comet.Ranker was brought about as a constructive response to things that were happening on the blockchain that ultimately would/will (in my opinion) bring it down. We need a friendly welcoming Hive if we are to succeed... this can’t happen by ignoring the unfriendliness... the point here is... to counter unfriendliness with friendliness. And that can’t happen if we don’t take note of the things happening around us. This social environment has degraded a lot since its inception... to the point where I have actually had to personally and professionally put a lot of my #BUIDL activities (fitness business) on hold so that I can cleanUP the glass that’s been broken first.

I love Hive and it truly is my home. My 2 daughters and my wife have accounts here... and so above all else a friendlier Hive is my top priority... and that is what I’m working towards in everything I do with @Comet.Ranker.

I don’t expect you to trust me immediately... but I hope that in time you will see the wisdom in my words and why it is that I have decided to highlight both the good and the bad on the blockchain.

And please keep in mind... I really do believe that with the right people... we can turn bad situations into good ones... if we don’t take a serious look at what is happening though... we miss out on that opportunity completely.

@wil.metcalfe

@wil.metcalfe I hear you and I believe in what you are doing personally. My fear is that comet.ranker, and by default the accounts who are connected to it, will be targeted. I am not concerned about myself. I am more concerned about the people I post about here for missions. I fear them getting downvoted by some asshat just because they are mentioned on the @comet.ranker account. All because it was used to like this.

I have to think on this. After my strokes, I have purposely been working on pursuing a stress-free lifestyle. Social media is something I darn near have cut completely out of my daily diet with exception of what I use for business. Hive is the only social platform I use for personal interaction anymore.

I will have to put some thought into this. Know though that I support what you are saying and have already made my thoughts known about the current argument on plagiarism on Jay's post.
