Sixth Hiversary !!!

Today is 21st June, summer solstice, the longest day in the year. It's also the day I joined Steem Hive six years ago. Even though I hadn't planned on posting anything these couple of weeks, I felt I couldn't let this day slip by quietly.

livinguktaiwan divider.png

I'm swamped these few weeks due to moving, here are a few random photos on what I've been busy with. We got our new place the other week, and we got a nice garden!!! Now I can finally have a go at growing some things properly. Hive Garden, you might see a lot more of me soon!

Some of you may recognise these chairs which I used in my HPUD Guessing Contest earlier this month. Hubby started polishing the chrome frame today and they make such a big difference. On the chair on the right, you can just about see the seat's reflection in the frame, whereas you can't see anything on the left hand one which he hasn't polished yet. I then cleaned the same chair, it took me quite a while as I had to do it with a toothbrush and had to be careful not to brush too hard or to use too much water. With all the dirt and grime gone, the difference is really obvious, and I'm feeling quite chuffed. One down, three to go.

We've had to buy nearly all the furniture for the house, but luckily my sister gifted us a sofa bed. That will come in handy when we have visitors, plus it saves us some money!! It came all dismantled and we were busy putting it all back together yesterday, as well as lots of other Ikea furniture.
20230620_162152.jpg

My favorite room in the whole house is a 1m x 1m storage room. Yes, I know it sounds a bit daft. I always wanted a walk in pantry to store my groceries and this will be perfect for it. They're so cool. Recently I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos about how people organize their pantries. It's really quite fascinating. I've bought two racks from Ikea to form an L shape and still have enough space for me to move around. Can't wait to get it all set up and fill it with my groceries.

That's all we did so far. Oh! We also ordered a wood TV table from Etsy the other week. Yesterday Etsy messaged us to say that particular shop is no longer operating and if we have any problems with our order to let them know immediately. The table was delivered today and after we assembled it, we noticed the finishing was really bad. There are three frames supporting two shelves but the fit is really bad. We immediately messaged Etsy to ask for a refund and return. I think they must have had a lot of problems with this shop as they didn't ask any questions and within a few hours we got our refund back. They didn't even ask us to return the TV table! So now we have a free table which we're going to put in the garage to store junk 😉

Happy Anniversary! Being able to see your food is awesome. :)

Thanks Sara. I'm going to re pot the bok choi seedlings from you next week, they're a bit overdue already, hopefully they will flourish here

Yay that will be awesome. Excited to see the pictures.

Congratulations!

Happy hiversary! Congratulations on the six long years! I wish I'd known hive that long too. Nevertheless, im here now and im so happy

You being on Hive now is still a lot better than those who aren't aware of the potential, so you are doing well compared to the majority, I'm sure you won't regret it in the coming years!

Yeah, i just read a blog regarding lots of things happening right under their nose but they aren't aware of it. I tried inviting people here but they just don't last long and leave. Hive is definitely the best thing that happened. I even considered, cahnged my mindset about phones and internet connection. I now think theu are investments. I still had a lot to learn about hive, there's still a long way to go but I've gotten far already and I'm happy about it

Happy Summer Solstice Pauline and happy 6th birthday on hive 🎉🎉🥳🥳 wooohhhoooo
A great day to celebrate and I am glad you posted about it. Plus a little update what you have been doing.
That’s a nice garden… looking forward to some posts.
And a pantry, I would love one too. They are a must hehehe 🤭
I have the same racking just in mat green. In the kitchen… so handy for the pots and pans 😎

Enjoy your evening and have a great week further 👋🏻
!LUV

I wanted to mark the Hiversary occasion because I think it's quite important, but didn't want to do just a few words, luckily I had something to write about. I figured people are always interested in other people's home 😄

Are you all settled down yet?

It is important 😊 and you had a lot to write about… so people do look and read 😉
People are so curious hehehe 🤭

Getting there, as the first rental fell through, I had to search something else. This house is so much smaller, I can’t unpack much. Every were boxes hahaha but… a roof and a base to stay for now.
We will be looking later in the year for a permanent home.
Hubby isn’t here yet. He will come mid July.
So it has been a bit lonely especially without car.
Have a nice evening, hope that you settle in well further. 🍀

Wowww! 6th hivesary ✨ Congratulations!!!

Thanks, hopefully there will be more years to come

Of course I did! On the 13th of this month I celebrated 4 years at Hive.

Happy Hive B-Day!!! More to come!

Your new place looks great! Like that small backyard/garden! I saw some nice flowers there and maybe some veggies! :)

Thanks! Yes, I'm starting to visualise the garden, hopefully there will be some nice flowers and veggies very soon, that will be awesome

Texture of the chairs looks fabulous 😍

Happy Hive anniversary!
And wow, new house, new life? 😁
Love that garden and that storage area! I'm so envious!
Are we expecting a house tour after you finish setting up? 😄

Are we expecting a house tour after you finish setting up?

Maybe, maybe not 😂

Yes, it's nice to have some outdoor space, been lacking the past few years for me

Happy 6th Hiversary 🎉😁🎉

Thanks @terrybogan, it's been quite a journey!

Happy hive 6th birthday to you @livinguktaiwan. I just celebrated my first year last June 18. It's good to be here and I'm happy to reach that milestone.

Congrats also for the new house, new location and what I like the most is the space for gardening wow! See you in hivegarden soon which I just posted a blog yesterday. I also like being in that community of gardeners.

Congrats on your first year @jenthoughts, the first year is normally the most difficult and many drop out, once you made it past this stage, you'll be fine.

Still no sign of my postcard yet? Cebu arrived yesterday, so hopefully yours won't take too long.

Still no sign of my postcard yet? Cebu arrived yesterday

So sad no sign yet. Hopefully it will arrive here too.

That's huge! Congrats on the 6 years and all the stories and fun adventures shared along the way.

Absolutely, there's been ups and downs, luckily more ups than down, and it's been fun all the way. I never thought I'd still be here after 6 years and Hive is now such a big part of my life, it's just kinda crazy.

What a great date to celebrate! Happy 6th #Hiversary!

Thanks, time goes so fast on Hive, kinda scarey!

That's so cool that your anniversary is on the longest day of the year! I will celebrate my 6th Hiveniversary in December this year :D

Happy Anniversary!!!

Six years is quite a long time isn't it? And quite a big chunk of your young life! Not long till your sixth now!

Absolutely! Time flies so fast.. it's incredible how much we've been around. I think we can call ourselves veterans now!

Happy Hive Birthday! Your new home looks fantastic, I´m sure you will love it there :)

Thanks Petr. Can't wait to settle down, am loving it so for.

@tipu curate

That is a really nice back yard. Are you doing to do raised beds for your garden? Congrats on your birthday! That is a great accomplishment. I love seeing the great people here who have stuck around during the highs and lows!

Yes, I plan to get a raised bed behind the garage on the right hand and U shape it to the back fence and have my veggie patch there. That's south facing, so hopefully I can learn to grow some stuff now.

Personally I think if people aren't just focused on the rewards, it's much more fun on Hive. Growing your network, establishing yourself and the support will come. Sadly many do it the other way around or even ignore the first two points, that's why they get fed up and leave. Those who stick around have found the magic formula!!!

That's awesome! Best of luck to you on your garden. Mine is in sad shape this year with the lack of rain we have had. I look forward to seeing some updates on yours! I agree with you about people on Hive. It's become more enjoyable for me since I shifted my focus early on.

Happy Hiversary 💛
May the creativity bee with you.
And have fun with your new green goal 🌱💚

Thanks @growandbow!

Hope you're doing well.

A bottom full of work but little time to post at the moment 😝
I'm fine. Thanks a lot! And I'm looking forward to the Hivefest 8 and seeing you again with new eyes, as well as getting to know new Hivers.

Congratulations! That's for the anniversary and the new house. It seems crazy that so many of us have been on here for years whilst the world doesn't realise a revolution is happening. The next few years should see more come on board.

A new house is exciting. You can try new things.

Have fun.

!BEER

Thanks Steve.

Yes, so exciting to be moving in and settling down at last. Been a bit here and there in the past three years since I got back to UK.

Good luck with your new home, There is plenty enough garden to be getting on with, and privacy with a nice big fence. Perfect!

Thanks @grindle. The garden is a bit bigger than expected, so that's very nice, and not too big for hubby to complain about having to do mow the lawn

LOL! A man's work is never done!

Happy Hiversary! Cheers to more years in Hive! 🎉

Let's hope so, I plan to be around for a while 😄

never talk about it post on Hive about it! I'm still able to learn a thing or two from you old pros!Congratulations on the anniversary and the new house move! Are you and @littlebee4 in some sort of crazy, secret moving competition? The first rule of House move Club is to

Have a great weekend and I'm looking forward to the gardening posts :-)

Talk of moving, you can't beat you, moving between two homes every week!!! Join the House Move Club!!

I'd rather join the 'sit on my lardy arse in one place enjoying a beer and the sunshine club'....

Happy 6th hivesarry Ma'am!🎉 Your new place is quite nice and what amazes me is your spacious garden. You can put any plant you want. Wow, I can imagine it now.

Thanks @jobeliever, I haven't had much luck with growing things yet most tend to die before they grow 😅, lets' hope I do better now

Here in Philippines, we do have certain tradition before planting, that we should be full so that our plants will be as healthy as we are. I don't think so if it works with you, hehehe. Anyway, it's up to us how to take care of it. Good luck🫶

The sofa bed looks nice and simple.

Typical IKEA, rarely disappoints

I'm sure you let her know you like it

Happy Hiversary! :-D

btw, your garden looks like a perfect one-year-timelapse opportunity ;-)

ooohh! That's a nice idea. Pressure's on now 😄

6 years at Hive is definitely something else. When I saw that chair, it looked familiar from somewhere, then I realized when I read it haha yes, another HPUD contest I guessed wrong. Isn't it fun to buy something new for the house?

Very, been buying lots of bits and pieces and spending way too much money 😬

Happy six hive birthday. We pray that you have a very good time.

Awwwwww Happy Hiversary to you Ma'am, cheers to many more years on the blockchain🥳🥳🥳

You rock!!

Congratulations are in order and well done!
Welcome to the 6 year club and my 6 years took place 4 days ago.

Yes, I just saw it from Steve's post this morning. Congratulations to you as well!!!

Thank you and I am glad that you are doing so well 😊

Wow, six years! Happy Hiveversary, and congrats on the new place, that garden has a ton of potential! ;) !BEER

Thanks @pardinus I hope it will keep me nice and busy there!

Happy 6th anniversary of Hive-Life @livinguktaiwan 👏

I have been a bit away these days too, so I didn't come earlier to congratulate you, I am sorry. Also, all the best with the new place, the storage room is a so necessary room in every home. And the little garden too 😇

Thanks @mipiano. I see you been quite busy and doing lots of gigs around the country, take care yourself!

That's right. 🎶😇
Thank you, I am now trying to make myself rest hahaha

And all this nice news... Eh? I'm a bit late because I was travelling to a Hive New User Workshop. But I'm here to congratulate you for your 6 years in Hive... 😲 6??? Hahahaha... Very nice work, @livinguktaiwan.

Ooops, the chairs... Hahaha... I like those chairs, you know. ;)

How nice that you're going to take up gardening now.... Are you going to plant vegetables, flowers and medicinal plants?

Thanks @nanixxx, I forgot to comment the other day as I saw you mention the workshop so I went to check out your post and then I still forgot to comment because I went from your post to someone else's post you mentioned... 😅

I repotted some veggies already this weekend, I sowed some seeds a while a go and they're over due to be repotted, hopefully they will grow nice and healthy now. I'd really like a lavender plant in my garden, and maybe flowers, may look into that later on once I settle down, which may be winter by the time I get round to it 😄

😂 What a tongue twister... But don't worry. Time is a relative thing here.

How beautiful the lavender flowers are. You plant, enjoy the process. I have planted trees here since they were tiny and then watching them grow is so rewarding. It's amazing how time flies by.
I remember I wanted to plant a mamey tree in 2010 and my father told me that the roots were so long that they would reach the house.... Hey, it was about 7 metres away from the house. I listened to him and didn't plant it. The mamey is a very tasty thing. Now I would have mamey fruit. 🤣😂
However, I have planted mangoes, soursop, bananas and I love being able to eat my own fruit from my backyard. Now I want to plant passion fruit.

;)

Happy Hive anniversary, I may be late for my greetings but still, I really like the idea of yours helping newcomers like me learn the in and outs of Hive. I actively started writing this May so there are some beginner mistakes.

Anyway, I am happy about your achievements here on Hive, and thank you for sharing your personal space l am looking forward to seeing the Hive garden.

Thanks @philnews.xyz all the best on Hive

You're welcome Ma'am, all the best also. I will keep on learning.

Happy sixth hiversary. The Sofa gifted by your sister is looking cozy..I am also looking for the same.

They're from Ikea, they do great stuff

Hey there well wear on the new house, it looks amazing. I love the garden, loads of room there for planting all sorts of cool stuff. Will you grow any food or will it be more shrubs and flowers you're thinking of?

The pantry is amazing too!! All that space for food and groceries! Happy days!!!

Probably be veggies initially as it's so satisfying to grow your own food, I had limited success in the past without a garden so hopefully will fair better now. Later on I hope to get some flowers, that's a bit ambitious for me at the moment as I think I need to sort out the soil first. Will get there slowly 😀

Sounds great and I totally agree that there's something really special about growing your own food. It just tastes nicer doesn't it and it's properly organic too 👌

Happy 6th Hive anniversary. I had to smile we have the same bed which is very handy for 1 guest or a couple. In addition we have the same storage racks for drink and excess pots and pans in our pantry. Isn't Ikea great! All the best with your move and I will look forward to seeing your garden.

ha ha!! I don't think there is any home that doesn't have at least one Ikea item, their product designs are really good. Are your shelves flat? Mine are a bit concave and if I place a tin sideways it will roll off the sides. Just wondering if its because they're new and will flatten out over time or whether the concave is part of the design

True - I agree.

My shelves are totally flat. Let’s hope yours will flatten out with use.

Congratulations on your six-year anniversary on Hive! Your new garden looks fantastic, and I'm excited to see more from your Hive Garden. The transformation of the chairs is impressive, and your plans for a walk-in pantry sound exciting. It's great that Etsy handled your refund request promptly. Best of luck with settling into your new home!

Thanks and welcome to Hive

Happy 6th Hive birthday, Pauline 🤗WOW!!! How did you get to that magic number? !LOLZ Your new place looks lovely! So nice to be able to start your garden from scratch and have a garden aspect that allows you some South facing land - I love growing my own veg although my back garden is devoid of water due to a massive tree just over the fence in our neighbour's yard, and its extensive root system! It's all quite shady as a result! So I have some raised beds in the front against the fence. Your pantry works really well... mine came with built in shelving but it's a right pain. I can't walk into it and things get hidden from sight all the time🙄My pantry cupboard fits under my stairs so starts at normal standing height and then after about a metre depth the ceiling slopes downward in line with the stairs... but I'm thinking how I can make this work... !LOLZ maybe a tiered shelving system... I shall have to explore more online!

Wow 6 years - thats impressive !! And exciting times with your new house too !
I love your pantry. I like how you have focused on the essentials, wine and what looks like a box of noodles - LOL - you could survive a nuclear winter on those two items alone !

I absolutely understand the excitement about the walk-in pantry! The house we moved into has one as well, and it's soooo lovely! I want to upgrade it eventually, but it's not a priority... but seeing so many pretty ideas on YT or Pinterest sure gets a girl thinking. lol
