Building an Interdependent & self-sustaining economy on Hive

in #hive8 months ago

We are proposing the development of features that allow hivers locally and internationally to exchange or trade what they produce or own, including services, with one another

Before this is done, let's tackle what could be major obstacles to the idea: A network qualifies as truely decentralized if central authorities/governments of other nations do not have ultimate control over it. The implication is that networks not under the jurisdiction of other nations won't have the legal backing to run their affairs and operate freely there. The governments will see the networks as threat and try to destroy or stop them. Parts of the solutions to this, is for members to: operate in less stationary or in more nomadic manner, have things that are easy to move from one place to another, be guided by acceptable moral codes and have a more superior law to protect & regulate them. The central governments would most likely tolerate this practices as long as it does not cause them problems. But if you live in a tyrannical society with government that doesn't care much about morality, then you should be encouraged by the fact that a moral network that does not exist in one location can't be easily stopped or destroyed.
Such network and its activities will be both online and offline, spread across nations, operate purposefully, covertly or randomly. The network's online activities need to be fairly transparent and immutable to enable its citizens and even the governments of other nations where the network operates to be involved in monitoring its activities and help in reporting crime to the network's "law enforcement agents". While immutablity helps preserve crime records to prevent criminals from destroying evidences. Immutablity will also be useful to user's private messages which can be accessed by authorized agents when there is evidence of serious crime linked to the user, but I would suggest that this be done through citizens concensus, that is, before a private message is accessed by law enforcement agents, the power to grant the access should be through voting. If it's proven beyond reasonable doubt that serious crime was committed, no member should downvote the access.

Hive Network will need its own law, judiciary, governments, marketplaces etc.

In regards to the Marketplaces, we are proposing features that allow the smooth operation of Interdependent and self-sustaining economy on Hive Network. Part of the reason this is really important is to have Hive currencies circulate more among hivers and within the Hive economy by having hivers patronize themselves to meet everyone need without the need to depend too much on external marketplaces. This will also increase the utility of Hive currency and reduce its sell rate thus increasing its demand and making it more valuable.

The economy would be Interdependent and self-sustaining, meaning that members would consider buying things they need and selling things they produce or have, among themselves before considering other marketplaces outside of hive network. Whenever there is need for products/services the network lacks, the need could be quickly met by members/sellers who would get them from outside of the Hive network and have them sent to the buyers, or the buyers & sellers could meet at safe locations to carry out the transactions then pay and review their experiences on Hive. And such transaction is best done with reputable sellers nearest to buyers locations for easy verification of products/services, to minimize fraud, resolve issues quickly, etc. Buyers could only patrionize distant sellers if the nearest ones don't meet their standards, are not reputable or don't have what they need. It's important to always stick with reputable sellers whether far or near.
This idea isn't complete & safe enough without the development & use of escrow/smart-contract to hold funds until buyers receive their products and confirm they are in OK condition & according to agreement with the sellers, before funds are released. Buyers will need features to vote, rate & review trustworthy sellers once they have fulfilled all contract, and downvote untrustworthy ones. This will form the reputation of marketplace participants.
We will need arbiters and witnesses to settle dispute and verify claims online and physically. We will probably need some sort of law enforcers and judges to judge serious and lingering issues according to the Network law/rules.

One of the best ways to discover talents for these roles is by voting the works of hivers in related fields and ranking up those who successfully did their works without much issues.
In the end, we will be running an Interdependent and self-sustaining economy on Hive, and this can qualify Hive as an independent Nation, or what else would you call a network that has its own law, courts, judges, police, governments, markets etc?
