We have our own podcast hosting service(using IPFS), but currently we sticked with using the audio links from onboarded podcasts because 1. The hosting service still needs some efforts to work seamlessly 2. Onboarding a podcaster with condition of him using a new hosting service is bit more difficult than simply enabling Aureal through links of his current hosting provider. Also we launching our hosting service with the new feature we are working on that which enables users to host audio sessions and the audio files gets stored on IPFS.
The reason for going with this process is the fact that the platform and Hive Ecosystem in general should not scare any non-hive user. So we constantly emphasise on making the transition as seamless as possible. Once they are comfortable, they stay here in the open decentralised world.
@theycallmedan with 3 speak has something for hosting in the line of video content. It should work for audio too, if i understand all right.
So it would be more decentralized and more connected to hive.
