I've abandoned the last of my former social media's - Facebook. In truth, the only reason I held on this long to the social media giant was that I still used FB messenger. Even that I barely used and standard text messaging works just as well. So it's off with its head!
Social media was never my forte. The standards (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc...) all are overstuffed with mostly pointless junk. Ads, memes, political jabbering, and complaining take-up vastly too much real estate for my liking.
Not to say Hive is perfect, what platform could be? but for me, it's all I need. A place where I can express my interests and be inspired by others without the tiresome LOOK AT ME!!!!!! vibe that the rest of the media seem to always be constantly shouting.
And sure, I could use a place like Twitter to expand and find other Hive users, even promote Hive, but I'd rather keep my distance and stick one form of distraction.
At the Hive
Here on Hive, I can explore various communities and subjects like Art, writing, and other creative outlets all while keeping them separate if I so choose. (I don't want to bog down my standard blog with too many unrelated posts)
Having a single social media also allows me more time to live my life, spend more time with family, and to create more instead of consuming (beyond what interests me that is) plus having a single source of social media simplifies my life. As it stands I have maybe .0001 seconds of time to myself a day. That means I have zero time to waste on things I no longer care for.
Unfortunately, my wife does not share my desire to abandon most social media in favor of living more life outside the computer. And that's her choice I get it and don't harp on it too much. I do wish she would at least look up from her phone more often at least when we spending time together as a family.
