- Decentralized
Well this is pretty much self explained. Hive has a group of witnesses(21) that supports the Blockchain by confirming the blocks. They need to be voted in and agree to any changes that are made. But like most, the more power you have the more influence you have.
Ethereum is also decentralized. There is no group that runs it but miners that confirm the blocks and save the transaction to the ledger. The only problem is that these types can be 51% attack.
- Fees
Hive is pretty simple on this. THERE IS NO FEEs on transactions. Move what you want as many times as you want. For Free!
Ethereum on the other hand is out of control lately. When you get anything over free its to much. Ethereum Average Transaction Fee:1.463 USD/tx for Aug 06 2020 source
- Smart Contracts
Hive has them somewhat with the side chain from the Hive-Engine but once SMT(Smart Media Tokens) show up this will be more likely a good choice.
Ethereum has them and have been around for sometime. Best known for ICO's to help get funding for projects before starting there own chain.
- Social Media
Hive has blogging sites like PeakD and . Also others that have a front end that may use the side-chain but the actions still are placed on the blockchain. Remember free to start with free accounts. You can send tips to your favorite blogger without paying a fee!

Ethereum on the other hand has https://peepeth.com/ and https://www.sapien.network/ but I could imagine the crazy fees you would pay in transactions. A $1 tip with a $1.50 fee.
So with this comparison of the 2 chains I would say Hive is the better choice. With Games, NFTs, and Social aspect to this its pretty clear. On Ethereum transaction fees alone eats away at your holdings. Unless you want to throw all your Crypto into a DeFi and hope to get interest off you holding. Just remember "Not your keys, Not your crypto!" Just for Powering Up and holding Hive you gain more of it. Hive is like a DeFi that you get to hold yout own keys.(In a nut shell)
