It has now been just over a week since I decided to allocate 5-10% of all my post payouts to tips as votes. This is my resolution to the problem of low stake vote power.
As you will all know when you start out on Hive it can be a tough grind to get the attention of curators even if you are publishing decent quality and engaging content, this makes it difficult of course to build stake which gives any meaningful vote to others.
I have already explained that my approach to this conundrum has been to delegate most of my stake, 66% of which I have bought from the open market and powered up. Through delegations I can receive vote support and Hive drips and this helps me to build my stake more quickly. But it leaves me without vote power to reward peoples' posts and comments, hence my new tips approach to voting, or VIPS as I like to call them now.
So in the spirit of transparency I would like to share with you that during the past week I have given out in VIPS a total of 4.2 Hive. It doesn't seem like much I know but given my current HP status and my approach to building in this community it is a lot more than I was giving out previously, and way more than using @commentrewarder to feedback my post payout in tips to comments.
I must admit it does feel good to finally be rewarding other Hivians with slightly more meaningful votes now, I mean VIPS! This is a great way to finally give something back to those who have been kind enough to lend me their support since I started blogging in this wonderful community.
