Last Friday, on the 13th, I attended the Hive Social Experience in Abeokuta. Omo! That day was something else—educative, interesting, and just full of vibes. The program was supposed to start at 2:30 PM, but as per Nigerian timing, I strolled in around 3 PM. No wahala though; the gist still went on.
The first thing that caught my eye when I entered was these two fine sisters, Ini and Gift. They were handling the registration table, and their smiles? Omo, na automatic warm welcome. I no fit lie—I was already feeling the event because of them.
The first lecture was by @starstrings01. The guy sabi talk abeg. After that, we had a small game session on Kahoot. Some MC conducted it; the guy no too funny, and his voice no even loud, but I no go lie—I just liked his vibe. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even participate in the game because my phone was doing me strong thing and refused to connect to the link they shared. E pain me small, but I just kept my cool.
The event was long, sha. There were moments I felt like carrying my bag and bouncing, but when I looked around and saw @starstrings01 in person, I had to hold myself. Imagine seeing someone you’ve been hearing about for the first time! The urge to leave just disappeared like that.
At one point, some fresh sisters entered with popcorn. I won’t even lie; that popcorn was what held me down because the new speaker that came on stage started dropping Web3 and blockchain jargon like no man’s business. My head was doing gbim gbim gbim, but I just dey observe. It wasn’t easy to grasp everything, but I could tell some people there really understood the topic. In fact, I later saw some OGs of Web3 sharing their experiences—talking about their wins, losses, and how far they’ve come. Respect to them, oh!
By around 5 PM, my body was already telling me it was time to move. I had to inform Ini and Gift that I was leaving. Those two sisters ehn—chai, very fine sisters! They quickly directed me to @starstrings01, who made sure I collected my "item 7" package sharp-sharp. Baba no waste time at all. Before I left, I just smiled to myself because, at the end of the day, the program wasn’t bad at all.
In short, I learned a few things about Hive blockchain, got popcorn, saw @starstrings01 live, and made small memories with fine people like Ini and Gift. It was a dope event, abeg!
