Sango is one of the deity in Yoruba land and he was among the great warriors during his time when he became the king of Oyo kingdom as the third king after his brother was sent to exile. Some country called him "Chango", "Xango" but popularly known and called Sango in Nigeria.
He is known for his powerful axe as violence, which made him rule for seven (7) years compare to his brother ajaka who was very peaceful. Both were just opposite.

Thunder and lightning were used to fight anyone who offends him then even till now the fear of thunder and lightning has been our great fear when ever it rains.
This man called sango gained his power from one great habalist those days to revenge and for his continuity also to wage war against his enemies. He was later possessed by thunder spirit because he always use thunder to strike.

The Yoruba people believe in it, use it today to strike down any one that thief or who has done something wrong. People who have been accused of crimes go to their shrines to declare their innocence, less they be struck by lightning .
He's known as agents of justice, that's reason is most advisable not to stand beside the door when it raining.
His dressing was attractive, with red cloth, cowries on his head as to design his hair sytle and his axe at his right hand. Maybe that's what made him had the beautiful 3 wives, Queen Oshun, Queen Oya and Queen Ọba.
He lost Ilorin to Afonja, when the Fulani and Hausa soldiers of the Afonja led a successful revolt.
He inadvertently caused a thunderstorm and struck his own palace by killing many of his wives and children. This caused him much contempt by his enemies when he went to hung himself in a place called Koso and another believed was that he refused to fight with Gbonka after Gbonka has threatened him to leave his throne.

It was obvious to Gbonka that sango wanted to kill him when he set a trapped between Timi Olofa ina and Gbonka. But luckily Gbonka won. Sango commanded to set Gbonka on fire after the serious fight between the duo.
Sango was very angry when Gbonka threatened him. He quickly sent his favorite wife among his wives called Oya to bring his magical Axe.

Fortunately, the Axe got stained with Oya menstruation blood. This caused the destruction of his palace, children and wives.
Sango, went to Koso(name of a place) , most of his followers went back, only few got to Koso with him when he disappeared to sky to strike Gbonka, and from there he disappeared to heaven. Most people that saw him from the sky thought he hung himself only his followers that went there with him can testify. So His death is of two ways left to an individual which to believe.
