Is AI the Silver Bullet for the economy?

in #hive5 months ago

Introduction

Despite the advent of personal computers, the Internet, and other high-tech innovations, much of the industrialized world is stuck in stagnant economic growth. This recession does not appear to be ending soon. It is also believed that artificial intelligence will lead to a “modest” improvement in labor productivity.

So now we only have new hope that artificial intelligence will break this economic reality, but doubts still remain about its effectiveness.
Some researchers believe that artificial intelligence will only contribute to a “modest” improvement in the productivity of individuals, and that will not be able to add much to economic output in the coming period. Noting that some expectations were that generative artificial intelligence could significantly raise global GDP.

But still there also remains the optimistic camp that still has high hopes for artificial intelligence, as it is expected that artificial intelligence will eradicate poverty, as technology has always heralded industrial revolutions that would improve the economy.
Furthermore, if the smart engines are wrong, it could spell trouble for the developed world, which desperately needs a breakthrough in productivity as the workforce ages and declines.

This new technology cannot automate all office employee tasks. Indeed, artificial intelligence has a lot to offer to help with the productivity problem. But it will not do so on its current path.

Well, AI as a tool can automate routine tasks – for example, speeding up writing emails or sales pitches or putting together basic computer codes. But could this help workers tackle more complex challenges, such as developing a business strategy for launching a new product?
Is this technology alone able to help workers be better at solving problems or performing more complex tasks?

Of course, we will not forget that the arms race between major technology companies to dominate artificial intelligence may have a destabilizing effect on society. As of the billions of dollars that companies are pouring into artificial intelligence may create a speculative bubble.

But it's too early to know whether this technology will be a very powerful productivity-enhancing application until it is tested in the workplace over the next few years.

Conclusion

Companies are already conducting vibrant AI experiments. Some companies will look to AI as a tool to reduce costs and inefficiency. But if a company wants to build for growth, it will need tools for innovation.

Innovation is of great importance to enhance workplace efficiency, which will make countries with older workers more competitive.

Rather we trust the artificial intelligence or not, we need to confess that it will surely change a lot of our reality in different fields, starting from education and not ending with the economic situation.

Many thoughts are being heard now, the pessimistic and optimistic ones but they are all thinking for the good of humanity and how we will be able to survive as the situations around us are only getting harder.
So the most important question will be now…

Is artificial intelligence the necessary tool to achieve this?
