These words have such a heavy feeling but in the same sense a sigh of relief. It answers the WHY but leaves open the WHAT of the W questions within all these tests. The WHY is answered with even more of a heavy term at age 4 ADHD. The WHAT is what do I do as a mother to help him without becoming frustrated within his limits. Now testing isn't done until the children are older for ADHD. So WHAT do I do until then? WHAT is the right way to deal with a child who is using his body for pain to find his sense of you? Pragmatic is being a word as well. It's like he is a step ahead by the time you are even done explaining the first step. By completing the tasks so rapidly, he can then move on to the next movement faster. Meaning he is a devious little guy.
As a baby, we go to the pediatrician and take these questionnaires each milestone to check and see if the child is progressing in order to watch out for these things. He has always been on point. WHAT are some of the things they look for are sitting up, crawling, walking, speaking words, etc. Most of these things are all to do with moving the biggest concern.
So nothing besides him being a active young boy were being seen. All while, his behaviors were seeming like he was just seeking out the negative attention, it is him really having sensory processing issues.
WHY didn't I know as his mother? It took going to preschool for his teacher to bring a "unsafe act" every day at school for me to see things weren't just a rambunctious little boy anymore. The teacher would be everyday waiting at the door, with him being held by the arm or hand in order to keep him contained in the classroom at dismissal. Being to a point he was pulling him and her down in order to get away to have almost hurt her. At dismissal, the children are to remain seated at the tables with their backpacks on until called by the teacher at the door when the parent has arrived. He runs the classroom perimeters until the teacher is not paying attention and can slide right past her in the doorway to run down the hallway .
WHY is this teacher allowed to put her hands on my child?
WHY didn't you let go?
WHAT do you want me to do?
WHERE is his safe space?
WHO can help?
Well this everyday, lead me to pursue within the school district to get him disability services within his classroom as his teacher was seeming like she was just as stressed as I am for having him 2.5 hours a day x 5 a week. Making him just sound terrible everyday. He is the best! When you can get him to stop moving and anyone who knows him can see that. As all the tests he has had to perform in, while meeting the new people to endure these tests, and being pulled from his classroom routines. He wanted to just please the observer and reading the report can really see it in him. The speech, occupational therapists and psychologist all said the same thing he is eager to learn and so sweet just has no sense of control.
WHAT the WHAT is the feeling as a mother I have most anymore.
