It truly did. My dad was alone through covid lockdown, 10,000 km away from his adult children. We had only just lost our Mom in early 2019 so the timing was not great. To make things worse, he had to endure the recent riots in South Africa too. So your story really hit home. I also have colleagues and friends who live alone who have found lockdown incredibly alienating and lonely and I have felt relatively helpless as legislation has prevented in person contact. I called my dad daily throughout the past 2 years and made sure I touched base on calls and texts with my single friends as much as possible during this time. Even being part of a 4 person family household, I missed the connections with my family and friends tremendously. Thank you for opening up and sharing this with us all.
