To give you the short story on Jerry Banfield back in 2017 he had a DASH Masternode and pushed a ton of traffic to DASH but they didn't approve his proposal to get funding to keep pushing traffic. He sold the Masternode and started pushing STEEM. We supported him and he turned up the dial on Facebook and YouTube advertising and potentially 50,000 new users showed up because of him and from his efforts and other things going on the price pushed up past $8. In that timeframe he got kicked off Facebook and Udemy.
He was a STEEM / HIVE witness around the time of the HIVE fork and he got frustrated with the price action and he made all these videos purposely destroying his own reputation detailing how he injured and scared his back giving himself blowjobs. The whole blockchain tuned in. He shut down his witness node and got rid of all his streaming equipment and was absent for a couple of years.
He started back up and got all the streaming equipment again and started reviewing every crypto and then came to the conclusion that the best crypto was ICP and effectively pushed a massive amount of attention back to ICP and got funding from Dfinity to push traffic. He had made all these videos saying every other crypto is going to $0 which is ridiculous but his education on ICP keyed a lot of people in including myself on the strengths of that project. He pumped it from $3 to $20 basically and gave me a nice ride. Do to market conditions and all that it has retraced and Jerry quit YouTube again 3 weeks ago which spurred a lot of attention and response videos in the ICP community.
He is an interesting character and a great educator and a lot of people have an opinion about him but even if it is negative people tuned in and his message resonated. I think in general even rolling out other characters that have a Jerry Banfield or Bitboy Crypto effect will key people back into HIVE and be funny for everyone to watch. Everyone trying to figure out if the character is real or a joke or if the whole thing is a complex Psyop will have us all laughing.
Now I got it, it is about Jerry B! Of course I know him when he was pumping Steem. What a crazy guy, but very convincing at times. He even showed up on Hive recently and asked if he should try to pump Hive as well but sadly he was heavily flagged down. I am not sure if a fake-JB would get that much attention, but worth a try. If the whole Hive community memes hard, anything is possible...
Jimmy is even more convincing. He got me into $FWOG a month ago and we are doing pretty good.
