Follow Friday: Podcasting. NaPodPoMo/HivePodPoMo episode 5

The News

pointed out there has been a pump at the start of each month for a while that seems to come from Korea. Some people may profit from that, but at least the general trend is upwards. I do not subscribe to some of the ideas of 'technical analysis', but moving up is good.It was another fun week for $HIVE as the price soared again, before dropping to near the previous level. MC Hammer tweeted about 'play to earn' games linking to an article that had @splinterlands as the main image. That put it in front of potentially millions of people. I have seen a few celebrities shilling crypto and NFTs, but some may be being paid to do that. I am not sure any Hive project would pay for that, but exposure is valuable. Anyway, Splinterlands is the top game for users on @dappradar.

@hivefest is happening in a week, so I hope you are preparing for that. I just ran the app for the first time in ages and had some issues with the graphics, so I need to sort that out.

episode on the topic of podcasts on Podomatic. It is also the month of #NaPodPoMo, aka #HivePodPoMo, where people try to do a podcast every day in November. I have kept it up so far and I have a short

Friday Followings

As I am in a podcasting mood I will feature some podcasters this week.

There used to be some shows about this blockchain, but these seem to have disappeared. What other shows have you seen on Hive?

The Doghouse

I saw @qazikhizar091 manage to trash his account by doing posts that basically just said 'Good morning' in some of the tribes. He got downvoted for spam. I keep saying to people that Hive does not owe you rewards. They need to be earned and that means creating posts with some value to others. That does not have to mean long essays, but you can entertain or inform people with your knowledge or talents. What you should not do is use content you did not create or just churn our 'shitposts' for the sake of it. That can lead to a negative reputation and they you may as well just create a new account to start again, when I would hope you have learned from the experience.

I want everyone to have a chance of earning on Hive, but it needs to be done honestly.

The End

I will be generating a fresh #BritList tomorrow and that should show some improvements in activity. It is still not too late to be included if you are in the UK or a Brit living abroad.

Hive five!

Awesome! Thanks for including me int he Follow Friday fun!

I wondered when the various crypto and such would seep more into the 'main stream' always interesting to see where it is all heading. I think we can see the end game for currency is CBCD's so I guess that makes sense.

I didn't realise there was a podcast a day in november, that would have been interesting to try. I still have my tiny youtube channel and I did a week stretch of daily vlogs, but it wore me out, tho videos with shooting, sound, lighting and editing is maybe more involved than just podcast? Not sure, but after not being able to finish my #inktober this year, I'll just stick with my own made up hashtag #NFTNovember lol, which I made up to encourage me to get back to that realm this month.

Will @hivefest be an actual physical space happening or is it virtual? @steevc

If we can get more public awareness of crypto and NFTs it may bring in more people. Just need to let them know about Hive somehow.

Podcasts can be simpler than video, but it is down to how complex you want to make it. I do edit out the hesitations on some of mine. I did not do Inktober this time, but I would like to get back to some drawing. There just doesn't seem to be enough time for everything I want to do.

Hivefest is virtual and was free to attend if you got booked by yesterday. There is a fee to register now. It seems a lot of people have registered so it should be busy. I need to get the app working before next weekend.

Isn't that always the case @steevc never enough time :)

Oh that is interesting that it's virtual, maybe I'll look into it, even if it might be full, if virtual can be full? Hard to navigate this New World sometimes haha.

I'm trying to keep up with my videos, tho as I do more here I will most likely talk about it on my channel, I'd love to get some of the lovely people who comment there to join Hive, sometimes it's hard as people think of it as too 'technical' :) But I'm hoping to lure a few with the idea that they can read my posts? Who knows, we can all do our part somehow, I love hive and loved steemit . It still always makes me think of the fun of the mid 2000's BLogs...I miss those 'days of blogs' :)

I had a few blogs over the year, but I get a lot more engagement here than I ever did with those. I still subscribe to some via RSS with Feedly though. Hive is different, but tools like Keychain make it relatively easy to use. It has certainly improved since the early days.

I think it is funny that they are presenting Splinterlands as a new game when in fact it has been around for close to three years. Great stuff!

Axie seems to get more publicity, but has less players. Did you see someone paid $50k for a Splinterlands card? Crazy stuff.

Axie will always get more press because it is on ETH where there are billions of dollars moving around every day. That is crazy about the Splinterlands card.

Thanks for another nice follow friday podcast Steve!

I saw what happened last month with the 'pump' and this time I managed to make about 100 Hive by selling some when it was high and then rebuying it a day later when it had come back down again. Of course, no guarantees but it was an interesting experiment.

And as you say it's far more important that the general trend is upwards as I only have plans to grow my Hive account and don't plan on selling other than perhaps in the super short term if there is another spike.

I haven't even tried Splinterlands! I have plenty else to do and learn on Hive currently but perhaps soon I will see what all the fuss is about it!

Lucky you on winning with the price changes. I don't generally bother. The games can take up a lot of time and you have to prioritise. I am thinking of renting out more of my Splinterland cards for a while to see what I can make from them.

There have been some characters over the years! There is a show on Irish tv called reeling in the years. Snapshots from points in time. It would be really interesting to do something like this for hive.

I've had stuff from Steemfest in Lisbon popping up in Google Photos today. Some good memories from that when I first met some of the community in person.

Love the bit about our posts should add value for others, great reminder and learning for us newbies.

I've seen some say that people are told 'come to Hive and make money' without mentioning the value aspect. They can expect rewards for no effort, which is wrong.

Damn!

Splinterlands....

Can't Touch This!

Hammer time!

I believe Splinterland is now recognized by many as the best blockchain-based game. On the other hand, as far as the fight between STEEM and HIVE is concerned, in the last few weeks HIVE has shown more strength than STEEM, I admit that I didn't expect that to happen. I didn't know about Mc Hammer's tweet about Splinterlands, thanks for the tip
