I am continuing with the tradition of powering up on the first of the month. I do not qualify for a prize in the contest, but I like the bee badges.
I had some real life bees to deal with today. Last year I put out some tubes for solo miner bees to lay their eggs in and they have now hatched out.
I was a bit lax in my care of the young bees. You are supposed to take the pupae out of the tubes and clean them. At least some did make it, but a few were dead in the box they were in. I shall try to do better next time. I am sure the bees find other places for their eggs around the garden. We try to make it wildlife friendly and I will build a new 'bug hotel' this year.
As for my power up, I used what HBD I had built up this month plus some game earnings. I managed to reach my target of 78,000 HP.
Powering up increases your influence on the Hive blockchain in terms of spreading rewards, choosing witnesses and selecting proposals to fund. Of course you can earn from it too. I know you can make a bit more from HBD interest, but I prefer to invest in HP.
That liquid HIVE is intended for other purposes. I do take some out now and then. This will go towards funding the comic by @drwatson. They have reached their target, so the next issues will get published and I want copies.

I left the door open a few day ago to let the fresh air into the house and after a few hours there were 5 or 6 of those bees hovering around and crawling into an open scree hole in my door frame 😂. I had to shoo them out and close the door for the rest of the day haha.
Maybe I should make a bee hotel as well.
We need to help out the bees and other critters as many are struggling. You should make one.

I'm sure we used to have a bug hotel in the garden but damned if I can find it! Last year I started scattering wild flower seeds around the edge of the lawn and around the tree out front in an attempt to attract more wildlife.
Can you get the kids interested in stuff like that? I made a birdbox with my two. The bluetits have been checking it out recently. I may sow some more seeds to fill some gaps. Got lots of weeding to do anyway.

That’s a great thing to do Steve. We’re looking at what we can do with our blank canvas of a house and garden. There’s a lot to do in order to encourage wildlife into this garden, especially as we are lacking in plants that attract all pollinators. So we are gradually bringing colourful flowers in and hope our neighbours do similar.
I'm no great gardener, but I can provide some places for wildlife. We're lucky to have a big garden, but that means lots of work.

We’ve downsized the garden but it’s going to be easy to keep in good shape. Last house had a big one with a section at the bottom we didn’t do an awful lot with.

How great that you have a bee farm, I really like the idea, I think it's great that you can bond with them. On the other hand, I am very interested in this Power up topic, I will see if next month I can start with it.
These are wild bees, but I just help them out.
Keep powering up what you can. Maybe you can save some rewards up each month to qualify for a badge. I see you are almost at Minnow level, so well done.
