When I officially launched @Comet.Ranker on the Hive Blockchain just 24 days ago...
I decided that I would PoweredUP the account and use it solely for the purpose of ranking comments. This would be (and is!) an effective way to bringing recognition and value to the people taking the time to forge a stronger friendlier Hive by authentically and genuinely connecting and engaging on the blockchain!
If you are commenting you are doing something extremely critical to the Hive Blockchain's success. Every comment you make means that Hive is one comment closer to an optimized anti-echo state. And remember... this is how the Hive becomes an anti-fragile Blockchain where shocks only strengthen it's backbone from code to community.
THIS is mission critical and THAT is exactly why I decided to step into the gap with an idea like @Comet.Ranker.

Right, Left, Center, UP, and Down, there are great posts by great people all around you... and they resonate!!!
Posts that you thought really had something good to say, the message was relevant, or the content spoke to you in an unexacted and wonderful way. Maybe it was a post that got you to understand or think about something in a totally new or different way or learn something vital and timely!
That's the one!
This post stands out and you would like to highlight and appreciate the time, effort, care, and maybe even smarts, the person poured into it right?
Step #2
The best way to do this is create meaning around that post. It's not just a piece of floating space junk. It's a destination on the Hive Blockchain!
How do you do create meaning around a post?
Of course we all know that giving the post an UPvote is nice! Buuuuuuut... (Did you guessed it?!)
Leaving a comment... that's going to make that post stand apart and signal to the author that their content matters right!?
It's a comment that truly respects the authors efforts the and recognizes the posts potential so leave a well thought-out comment! MAKE something happen!

Ranking! Why the heck didn't I think of doing that. Such a simple solution to an annoying problem lol. I actually commented on @elricmoonslayer 's RTOTD contest earlier today where he asked the question: What is the most important goal every person should have? and was so blown away by the rest of the thoughtful comments to his post, that I upvoted all of them 100%. I worked my way down from first to last though, upvoting as I went and surprised myself that I ended up upvoting every comment on a post for the first time ever I think. Next time though, I will try reading ALL the comments before I upvote anyone, and then try your ranking process to use my voting power more equitably. Thank you for this simple yet pure insight.

This post just about simplifies it for me - the comment that speaks to me the most in a post selected for the comet.week, I will upvote 100%.
The challenge is how to bring the comment to your notice. I think it's by using those symbols highlighted in the white paper. I'm getting the hang of it! Nicely done. 🙂
