RE: Not sure if it's the platform or the people

in #hivelast year

To me, I’ve always tried to simplify things down to a basic equation. Content + Networking + Time = Success here.

The first objective is content. Write some stuff and challenge yourself to see what works, resonates and feels good…just like business.

The second, and I saw it as the most important thing to focus on here, is networking. Find the builders. Find the helpers and those who are looking for the people who will drive the right culture. Kinda like in business.

Then there is time. This really is just patience and having the discipline to be consistent for longer than it takes to succeed. Kinda like in business as well.

When it comes to rewards, I would be lying if I didn’t measure that as well. Not the only measurement but a good barometer as to how I am doing with the equation. Been here a while and the content is good but not the rewards one might expect? Time to work on that networking. It is nobody’s fault but my own if I am amazing and people don’t know about me because I haven’t invested the time to appear on their radar.

Now I do see the scariness of getting on one of those downvote trails because I have seen people correct their problem and address the issue only to be unable to get out of the bad graces from some ghost who won’t communicate back. Luckily I have decided to play nice and haven’t been hit by that much over the years.

In the end, I think it comes down to entitlement which is often the mask of impatience. People are just gonna peep and have their own baggage which generally shows itself after while. Maybe it is a business sense that is lacking or a generation unlike mine who was told “shut up. Nobody cares. Work harder”

Culture is a tough thing to build, a constructive one at least. The more attention you get in anything, the same percentage of haters are going to be there but the number grows with your audience. In your position of seniority, leadership and fame, I can only imagine the tantrums you have seen, and potentially contributed to.

You gotta break eggs to make and omelette. People gonna peep and some won’t see the value in my simple equation and would rather butch than come up with a functional one of their own.

Like google business reviews, I would remain magnanimous and focus on the constructive people. The builders and the ones you would like to see as the next get reaction of leaders. Not the ones who want success and rewards without the work and responsibility.

People are going to fall into the wet cement that makes for the foundation of this place and never be seen again. I will tip a glass for them as an important part of the structure and build.

I wanted to reply to Acidyo's comment but as it is my manner I had to read through the comments and you've said most of the things that I would have loved to contribute towards.

Feeling entitled is just the beginning of falling for any individual and until they know that, it would be hard for them to know peace.

Like you rightly said, if people don't notice us on the blockchain, it only means that we are not doing something right and we just have to think of a way to get the attention that we feel we deserve. People are watching and that's why giving out best at all time is one rule that I'm learning to follow, whether or not I get the support.

And as they say, nothing good comes easy, we always have to put out our best foot forward all the time and not some because we don't know when the right person would come by to appreciate what we've created.

Thank you so much for those other advise in between, I've learnt something more today to help me keep doing my best ❤️
