To develop scientific attitudes in your pupils requires that you present your science lesson in an intellectually stimulating manner. By this, its meant that your science lessons should not be dominated by telling the pupils facts alone. You should present them with challenging situations that will make them think and carry out activities on their own.

Curiosity: Children are naturally curious. You should encourage them by allowing them to ask questions and giving them honest answers. In Some cases, you can even ask them to go and find out and report their results to you.

Suspended Judgement: This can be developed by rewarding this type of behavior and punishing the formation of conclusion without evidence.

Rationality: Confront your pupils with situations in which careful reasoning proves superior to explanations of a superstitious nature. Encourage your pupils to give scientific explanations for some superstitious beliefs in the society.

Open-mindedness: Provide experience in which pupils have the opportunity to design their own investigations, invent and evaluate their own explanations for natural phenomena. Encourage your pupils to give consideration to ideas which are different from theirs.

Critical mindedness: Teach pupils how to look for argument and evidence supporting or refuting important statement which they make or which other people make.

Objectivity and Honesty: Present pupils with open ended problems and ask them to investigate and report back to you. Your correction of their reports may help to foster these scientific attitudes.

Humility: This you have to do by example.
You should not behave as it you have answers to all their questions. In situations when you do not know the answer, tell them so and that you will find out. You can also ask them to find out.

As a science teacher, you should endeavour to exhibit the attitudes mentioned to acquire some of the attitudes that you exhibit in the class.
