Berenice Abbot once said: "Photography can only represent the present. once photographed, the subject becomes part of the past".
I come from a family passionate about photography. Before I was born they were already dedicated to it in all its facets. My grandfather was a photographer, my uncles and my father. He, my father, worked in the laboratory, developing negatives and projecting images with the enlarger on paper all night long. I remember the smell. In those days photography was more than visual. Its process was extremely sensitive. The smell, the light, the touch in the dark, the sound of the clock that warned when it was the right moment for chemistry.

Maybe that's where my passion for editing and restoring old photographs comes from. Maybe I just want to be part of a process that is part of my history, but that I can only live in memory.

In this sequence of photos I show the evolution of a restoration work I did. Starting from a very deteriorated photograph, trying to capture the moment, the colors, the looks of the photographed. It was a sepia photo, but I tried to give it colors without losing the atmosphere of the period.
