Here I am, while life goes by....
The streets, those are different and complex worlds, they have such diverse peculiarities depending on the geographic region where they are located. There are an infinite number of themes that can be adapted to them.
And how does one reach this world? Very easy, just by crossing the threshold of the doors of our houses, we are immediately immersed in this street maelstrom.
I don't think anyone can escape this dynamic. In one way or another it involves us, and sometimes too much.
In the conditions of our daily life, they are unique and unrepeatable. Sometimes playfulness is the protagonist, sometimes tragedy or melodrama. It is what some scholars call "la cubanidad"; the customs inherited by the mixture of nationalities that gave us origin: Spaniards, Africans, Chinese, etc, etc....
In the small town where I live, I have tried to capture in images some of those situations that distinguish us; for that purpose I have sat in several of the parks that exist here, and I have waited patiently how life goes by in this small piece of the world.
You will see that very curious and original vehicles circulate: some are animal-drawn, and others are human-drawn, the so-called bicycle cabs.
But there are some very peculiar ones: the "rikimbilis". These have the personal mark of those who manufacture them with parts and pieces of various disused equipment, even the old engine of a turbine is used!
They are used in both cargo and passenger transportation.

Aquí estoy, mientras la vida pasa...
¡Las calles!, esos son mundos diferentes y complejos, tienen peculiaridades tan diversas en dependencia de la región geográfica donde se encuentran. Son infinitas las temáticas abodables con respecto a ellas.
¿Y cómo se llega a ese mundo? Muy fácil, con sólo cruzar el umbral de las puertas de muestras casas, quedamos sumergidos de inmediato en esa vorágine callejera.
Pienso que nadie puede sustraerse a esa dinámica. De una u otra forma nos envuelve, y a veces, demasiado.
En las condiciones de nuestra vida cotidiana, son únicas e irrepetibles. Unas veces la jocosidad es la protagonista, otras, la tragedia o el melodrama. Es lo que algunos estudiosos llaman "la cubanidad"; las costumbres heredadas por la mezcla de nacionalidades que nos dio origen: españoles, africanos, chinos, etc, etc...
En el pequeño pueblo donde vivo, he tratado de capturar en imágenes algunos de esas situaciones que nos distinguen; para tal propósito me he sentado en varios de los parques que existen aquí, y he esperado paciente cómo transcurre la vida en este pequeño pedazo del mundo.
Verán que circulan vehículos muy curiosos y originales: unos, de tracción animal, y otros de tracción humana, los llamados bici-taxis.
Pero hay unos muy peculiares: los "rikimbilis". Éstos tienen la marca personal de quien los fabrica con partes y piezas de diversos equipos en desuso. ¡Hasta el viejo motor de una turbina sirve!.
Son usados tanto en el transporte de carga como de pasajeros.
