Front pasture
On Sunday I spent the early morning working on the budget/bills. I can make an unholy mess of it with just a little brainfog. But I managed to sort out the current mess. There’s apt to be a few more before I finally finish for the month.
At 8:30Am I realized I’d not pulled the shades or eaten and I was supposed to be out mowing by 9AM. So I raced around and got those done and was out by 9:15. I would have to mow up at the barn so it was going to be 3 hours.
My brother came out shortly after I did and started weedwacking the driveway and 2 pastures by the house.
Then he said he was going to try to fix the little driveway to the house. At lunch time he was still at it and I’d finished the mowing. I had some lunch and laid down for awhile.
Next thing I know he’s working on the driveway to the barn.
And then he tackles the turnaround at the barn. That was badly rutted. He finished around 3 PM, saying he was liking learning a new skill.
I asked my son to put the chairs into the truck so I could bring them up and put them under the big trees.
Middle pasture
The new little trees are doing well, as are their comfrey companions. Someday I hope to finish the mulching.
I started these dianthus because the blurb said they had a good clove scent. But they aren’t as strong as the old ones that died. These are in the New West garden under the living room windows.
Wildflower area
The 1. North Star cherry has 6 cherries on it. Last year I had just 1. My helper friend says in 10 years I might have enough for a pie. Sigh…
The 9. Contender peach has no peaches, like most other peach trees in the area.
This is my best elderberry, 10. York elderberry. It doesn’t seem to have as many flowers as last year.
The 11. Juneberry has no berries.
The 12. Sugar maple is doing well. It seems to be in a gawky teenage stage.
On Monday, besides doing laundry, I hope to get out to the garden early. I was showing my brother the map and realized I wasn’t close to half done. I’d forgotten to plant all the squashes and cucumbers behind the pea fence. Sigh… Plus there are the 6 artichokes to plant and mulch before that half is done. I hope I can get all that done.
Hello lovely lady! 😊
The garden are looking good. Your brothers get quite good at fixing the driveways by the looks of those pictures. Maybe the smell of the dianthus will grow stronger as the plant ages? If your North Star Cherry tree keeps multiplying by 6 each year, that would be good, you'd have over 1200 cherries by its fourth year; would that be enough for a pie...I don't know, but it seems like a lot to me. 😊
Your new trees and comfrey companions look very happy in their new homes. I'm looking to get some comfrey this summer, it'll be nice to have some on hand and to see it growing on our homestead, when I get it. 😊
Okay, my tea is gone and I've gone through all the posts and comments, that means its time to get off this computer and start cleaning, then I'll be making a loaf of bread and some buns to get us through the next few days of meals. So, I'll say goodbye for now and chat with you again soon. 😊
God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
