Hi I’m @stellabelle and I’d like to formally introduce the Hive community to my new project, @hivepeople.

Hive People is a newly launched project that is focused on Hive onboarding, communication, collaboration with Hive dApps & Communities, social media marketing, art, graphics, tutorials and video production. We are driven by the ethos of Creative Commons and open source, so our work can be freely used, remixed and shared.

As new needs within Hive emerge, Hive People can pivot to meet those needs. Right now, I see Hive onboarding as the major roadblock, and therefore, most of my efforts will be focused on collaboration with @roomservice, the dev behind @hiveonboard. If you have not had a chance to check out Hiveonboard.com, do so now: https://hiveonboard.com/create-account It’s the solution we’ve all been waiting for. But we don't run @hiveonboard, as that is a project run by @roomservice. We work with devs and projects if there is synergy. Think of this Hive People project as a decentralized marketing and creative brainstorming factory of Hive.

Hive People has already been doing work for the Hive ecosystem, but until now, no formal article has been written. I’d like to focus on what Hive People has already accomplished, and also frame the future in terms of concrete goals and themes.

Themes That Guide Hive People

User Experience, Creative Commons, Branding, Tech Support, Aesthetics, Collaboration & Communication.

COLLABORATION WITH @roomservice & @hiveonboard:

copy edits for hiveonboard.com

I discovered the hiveonboard.com site while creating the HIVENOOB tutorials. From there, a natural synergy formed, and I began working directly with @roomservice on the LEARN section of hiveonboard.com. Provided copy editing and writing for hiveonboard.com. I created a giant infographic for the hiveonboard.com website. The infographic I made is creative commons CC Intl 4.0 Attribution, so anyone is free to use it:

ONBOARDING & TECH SUPPORT

On Twitter, Hive People has onboarded and helped many new users. I haven’t kept track of the numbers, but people are now reaching out asking for help with new accounts and other Hive issues. We’ve also delegated some HP to new users.

Marketing is useless unless you know exactly who you want to reach. I've been thinking a lot about the kinds of people that Hive attracts, and I think the thing we all have in common is this:

We all want control over our own data, and we don't like censorship.

There are a ton of people right now who are being demonetized, censored and silenced. Even entire communities, like rowdy youths, Natural Medicine groups and intellectuals are being silenced. The graphics and art I've created so far is targeting people who are pissed off at the current state of the internet. That group is growing huge.

Those are the people we are targeting, so we can build an even bigger and stronger collective here on Hive.

As we grow, we can market to more mainstream people, but right now the timing couldn't be more perfect to attract those who are looking for real alternatives to Facebook, Youtube and even Twitter. A tight-knit, impassioned group of individuals who support each other is powerful. It's what Hive is, even now.

We have unity (for the most part, but it's not all roses if you've been flagged by a whale) because we have been attacked, and that unity can expand outwards. Will it be perfect? Of course not. We are dealing with humans, lol. But this is the reason I decided to keep the bloody fist logo, and also the reason the people in these posters look a bit determined. We need determined people right now. And I hate corporate branding, mindsets and marketing. I think what makes the world interesting is unique art, and different perspectives. We don't want to be something we're not, so that is why I won't be creating milque toast campaigns.

CREATIVE COMMONS

Our philosophy is based in the creative commons and open source movements. All of our materials can be used, re-mixed and shared freely. They all have the creative commons license, so please use, remix, share in any way.

The majority of our works are licensed under CC0 1.0 Universal (CC0 1.0)Public Domain Dedication so check out the full description here:
https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ as we think it's good for the Hive community to be able to share and re-mix our art and designs freely. Some of our art requires attribution because in the case of our newest infographic, we used some creative commons icons and credit has to be given to getdrawings.com for that.

CREATED HIVE MARKETING COMMUNITY:

We saw a great need to create a Hive Marketing working group, so we created a community. If you have marketing, branding or SEO experience, or you just have some great ideas for a social media campaign, join the group and add your voice.

MOD and CONTRIBUTOR to Hive Beginner Tips Community

The Hive Beginner Tips Community is a place where you can find a lot of tutorials and guides.

Plans for Near Future

Once the referral system gets rolled out on hiveonboard.com, we want to work with marketing people to develop a social media campaign, aimed at onboarding new people to Hive. Once the campaign is over, it will be fully analyzed and revealed to determine its effectiveness.

How You Can Help

Hve is an amazing place that the world doesn’t know about. Here are 3 things you can easily do to change this:

  1. In your Hive profile, put this in the website section: https://hiveonboard.com/
(The referral system hasn’t rolled out yet, but when it does, you’ll put your own referral link there) But for right now, you can help new people easily create a new Hive account by adding that link there.

  2. Send personal messages to all your friends who were on Steemit, and let them know that Hive is a big improvement. Make sure and give them the https://hiveonboard.com/ link if they lost their Steem keys.

  3. Introduce your friends to the different Hive communities.

In closing I want to give a huge shoutout to @roomservice for creating hiveonboard.com. It’s the dream I’ve been waiting for and I’m super excited to be working with the Hive community. It’s been a super wild ride so far, and I think the best is yet to come!

We are Creative Commons so our work can be freely used, remixed and shared.

You are not "Creative Commons" as that is "an American non-profit organization" that "has released several copyright-licenses, known as Creative Commons licenses, free of charge to the public."

Instead, are you saying that you'd like your content to be posted under a Creative Commons License? If so you should specify which Creative Commons License as there are many. You should also add a licensing statement to whatever content you want to openly license.

For example, on some of my posts like this one, I write:

This post is released under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. When reusing this post, please attribute by linking to one of its locations on a Steem Blockchain browser

I don't see a LICENSE.md on your GitHub repo or at https://hiveonboard.com/. So I am not sure what you mean by "We are Creative Commons"? Can you elaborate?

Thanks for mentioning this, and I have added the CC0 1.0 Universal (CC0 1.0)
Public Domain Dedication https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ to most of our work. There is one exception and that is the infographic which has the Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

I don't see a LICENSE.md on your GitHub repo or at https://hiveonboard.com/.

Let me remind you, that I am not an official part of the hiveonboard.com team. I worked with @roomservice the dev who created hiveonboard.com in a freelance style way, but hiveonboard.com is his project, run by him. I merely assisted him on a voluntary basis, and said that he liked what I created, then he was free to tip me as he saw fit.

This concerns the Hive People project that is run by me and we will work in a synergistically way with any Hive project, dApp or community. Currently, Hive People doesn't have a GitHub, but it could in the future. It depends a lot on where this project goes.

Concerning the creation of a website for Hive People: as of right now, I am not interested in creating or running a website, as I have done that many times in the past. However, I am open to working with others who are passionate about building a site. Thanks for pointing that, appreciated.

Thanks for updating the post to more clearly link to what aspects are released under what licensing. As open licensing is a legal matter, unless it is marked clearly and unambiguously, it has little effect.

Certainly understand that it is a confusing topic and takes some experience to execute properly.

i ran a creative commons artist collective in 2017 on Steemit, so i am very familiar with CC licenses. I just didn't include all the details when i first wrote the post, so thanks for reminding me.

Just wanted to say I admire your hustle, I'm seeing you pop up everywhere helping new people. Great work!

Thanks for your constant support! You were a deciding factor for me personally to invest my time into Hive.

Hello @stellabelle @hivepeople

Thanks so much for what you're doing for the @hive community.

I remember when steemit was stable, the support you gave to the artists there. I was a beneficiary myself, and I'm grateful.

I believe this will be a great project and I'm ready for it.

it's great to see you again, yes, i remember your art for sure! Thanks for sticking with Hive.

This is powerful, amazing, unique and innovate.

Yes, your effort to "work with marketers to develop killer social media campaigns" is needed now. I like the idea of "hiring" people within Hive, as I see you've done with the Mother's Day campaign. I understand some of the reasons why Twitter is a target for this marketing push. What I think is missing is a targeted marketing message geared toward the Facebook / Instagram user, who is creatively image-minded, and probably jaded after these past few years of algorithm shifts. Hive is the answer to their need to share rich media. Know what I mean?

I just posted on this subject of onboarding this week. I think it is fresh on all of our minds. Thank you for your thorough efforts here. Over the years, I've often admired the way you seem to be setting the stage for the Creative Age, when we will live and thrive by our creative thinking. 100% with you in that vision!

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, we are seeking out experienced marketing people because that is not my primary background, but I think it's the main area that is needed right now. We have a working group and will be hashing it all out as we go, and once a dapp gets the referral system launched, i think it's go time...

This post should be trending number one.

Isn't it weird when extraordinary posts go unnoticed? I wish there was a "Resurrect" button, or "Rekindle," or "Refresh". :) You know? A way to say, "Hey world, you missed this gem—here it is again!"

Ooh, that's a good idea for a community. We might all it the "Rekindle community," existing to fan the flames of a hot post that's slow to get lit. One that crossposts or reblogs posts that aren't earning the traction they deserve.

Yeah, and I agree, this post here impacts all of us, and it really deserves our full attention. Interestingly, I wrote a killer post the other day about onboarding, and it also missed the masses somehow. Maybe the tags could be improved @stellabelle.

i am sure things can be improved. i need a personal upgrade to make myself more effective.....LOL

Thanks for you comment. I have a question for you, as I see you're in the CN community: what is the main sentiment or feeling about Justin Sun and Steemit? Is the Chinese community divided on Steemit/Hive? Or is there a clear opinion about the differences between Steem and Hive?

It's a bit complicated. I'll try to give my version of it, but wait me for half a day since it's a little busy for me at work today.

ok no worries, you could even make a post or something if you felt it's too long of a story. thanks for your reply.

A trusted active presence on twitter and on the block! Thanks for your work Stellabelle, hope those 500 Hive peepz a day will come join us 'soon'. Cheers :D

I have to read through this again. Hopeful to contribute in any small but meaningful way.

Wow, great minds working to bring more great minds into the system. Good Luck

Will you be using hivetips extension on twitter for marketing?

yes! A few of us in the marketing group just discussed the possible next two campaigns, and one of them is "Tip A Friend On Twitter" using the hivetips, that you created. I think we can create a tutorial then work on this first campaign.....it's really good what you've done!

This is a good movement to onboarding new members to our great community.

awesome work! This is exactly what we need :)

I can't even imagine what 500 people daily wpuld look like! Great project.. organised and diligent onboarding and support for new users ESSENTIAL.

Awesome, much needed!

I'll be sure to let new members know about this.

It was interesting when on one of your tutorial video you tried to registered under my name. Not AI though ! But I can say you will be succesful.

good ideas

Cool stuff. We need a good onboarding process as Hive can be intimidating to new users. I have been claiming accounts and creating them for people by advertising that service on Twitter. Just done another and I will delegate to her as she gets started. We need more people who create the content that will bring in others.

Of course there are some negative people here, but I think they are seriously outnumbered and we can counter the harm they try to do.

yeah, i agree on all the stuff you mentioned. We all need to try various methods and see what works. I personally like the Brave ads proposal by @roomservice bc Brave users are our target audience.

sounds like an interesting initiative.. will follow!!

thanks a lot! I'll make mistakes along the way, but hopefully, i will learn how to be more effective in onboarding and marketing in a way that works...

Great initiative! I'm starting a travel vlog and will be traveling all around the globe (as soon as travel restrictions ease) and considered making t-shirts and stickers with a QR code integrated that takes people directly to the "create account" page of the "hiveonboard.com" site when they snap it. Once the referral program is up-and-running it could create a watershed of new users.

sounds like a cool idea!

I already joined the group too. Weldone mates

Thank you for all your hard work! 🙏

Congratulations @hivepeople! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :

You published more than 50 posts. Your next target is to reach 60 posts.

I'm creating a discord channel soon. I'm slow and don't make any decisions quickly. just fyi.

No worries. Please reach out when you do. I've been looking for a project to get involved with and feel like my skill set could be beneficial to this project. Looking forward to hearing from you :)

How can @hivepope and I help best? I have been thinking about writing a basic overview of hive.blog and peakd.com to show new users where to find things in these different interfaces, for example.

Thanks, I think that making very simple tutorials (not overly complext) about how to use peakd, 3Speak, hiveonboard.com and other sites would be useful. I've noticed that shorter tutorials get shared more, and infographics too.
What are your main skills? I have been following your survival Guide and it's good. However i would suggest that you make these into mini guides with photos or graphics so people don't get overwhelmed. Sharing the hiveonboard.com link with as many people as possible would help also.

Oh, and write a tutorial about how to find and join communities. I'm working on a video tutorial about how to create a community but this is an area that needs a lot more exposure.

For community creation, @jarvie has this post https://peakd.com/hive-198327/@peak.answers/how-to-create-a-community, it can be found on his PEAK FAQ PROJECT Community. Currently he is the only one adding to the project and it is on a as time permits for him basis, (he is a pretty busy guy). All of the post are based on and for PeakD front end. He has a submisson post pinned at the top for question and the other pinned post is the TOC. All the items that have a link are done and this makes it easy to find what is needed with out having to scroll the whole page.

thanks for the links, i had found it earlier too, but want to make our own as well, to make it get more widely known.
