Allow me to take you on a tour of my Spartan expedition.

Let me take you to one of my trek!

The Spartan Trail is a popular hiking trail in Banawa, Cebu City's mountains. Barangay Pamutan is the destination of the 2- to 5-hour trek.

Cebu is home to some of the country's most popular hiking destinations. Hiking is one of Cebuanos' favorite pastimes, so even during lockdown, there is no shortage of outdoor activities to partake in.

Despite its massive urban sprawl, Cebu City has a swath of mountainous terrain perfect for hikers. The Spartan Trail, which begins in Banawa and ends in Barangay Pamutan, is one of the most popular.

The Spartan Trail is considered to be one of the most difficult hikes in Cebu according to the adventurers who live in the city. The track is littered with stones, rocks from dry riverbeds, and rocky roads, which make hiking through the area particularly difficult on rainy days. Several rest spots are available along the trail, and one of them is a magnificent waterfall where hikers can wash their hands and refill their water containers.

What is the starting point of the trail?

The Spartan Trail begins at Paseo Arcenas in Banawa and winds its way around the city. Some adventurers begin their journey at Good Shepherd Church, which is only a few blocks away.

Where does it all come to an end?

After there, the hike takes you to the Monterrazas de Cebu and then into the Buhisan Watershed's woodlands. Depending on your hiking ability, the trek might take anywhere from 2 to 5 hours to complete. The trip comes to a close in Barangay Pamutan, and the endpoint serves as a jumping off point for other trails, including those in Babag, Bonbon, Bitland, and Guadalupe, among others.

Reminders!

There is no entrance fee, but beginner hikers who have never been on the trail can hire a local guide for Php200.

As with any mountain trek, bring snacks and a water bottle large enough to last you for a half-hike. day's Bring additional clothing in case of excessive perspiration or an unexpected downpour.

Be a responsible hiker and never throw your trash anywhere along the trail. Make minimal noise to preserve the area's holiness, and carry footwear that can handle the treacherous trails.

After reaching the trail's terminus, you can return to the city main by hiring a motorcycle driver for Php30-40 to take you down to Lahug.

That 5-hour trek is ☠️ hahahahaha.

But it’s all worth it

Be a responsible hiker and never throw your trash anywhere along the trail.

Agreed! A post trended a few years ago where some hiker irresponsibly left their trashes, hays—looking forward to seeing more of these hiking blogs!

I would really like this kind of activity to be my hobby kaso I dunno where to start, lmao T^T Really love the view after hours of hiking. The pool of sweats after hours is sulit here 😍

Thank you very much. You can expect more because I love to trek :)

The view from there looks so nice, you can see the greenery, the city, and a body of water in just one shot. Also, love that you want to preserve the cleanliness of the trail itself, so many hikers can leave lots of garbage and just throw it everywhere they can. Would love to do this soon!

I know right 😆
We should always preserve what we have right now. We should be responsible for so that others can enjoy it also. :)
