Someone wrote a fanfiction mini-novel about me: My review

in #hivewatchers3 years ago (edited)

I’ve done some insane shit in my life. The fact that I’m still alive after all of it is no small feat and I feel blessed that what feels like a long time coming HAS FINALLY HAPPENED!!!

@world-travel-pro WROTE A FAN FICTION ABOUT ME!!

Read the story here!

It wasn’t completely about me. There were some side characters and to be honest a little bit of racist stigmatizing going on but I’ll let it slide since he was the first to finally write a mini novel about me.

At first I was a bit thrown off by the newspeak writing style, but keeping in the tradition I have of open mindedness when sampling new authors, I stuck with it a bit and it began to take on the vibe of H.G Wells The War of the Worlds radio broadcast premiere. Brilliant! I’m not lying when I say it added to the excitement. That being said it did take me a bit to realize that it was just a fan fiction. In the beginning I was confused as I will explain later in this review.

Coming from a management background I’ve found it most helpful to start with the bad news first and then top it off with the praises so that the performance review is remembered in a positive light, though the criticisms will have been absorbed, even if at the least it is only subconsciously.

The Bad

Implausibility: As with all works of fiction I found some parts implausible, mainly the way the Blocktrades account was featured as an autocratic overlord then tagged in the prologue as someone to be possibly alerted to the situation, as though down sort of error in logic was made. It was only later I recognized it to be an invitation to read the #hivefanfiction. The other implausible part was that a central figure in the most common #hivefanfiction, @azircon, is apparently being switched to a minor player and subordinate to others when the tradition has been to feature him as an oligarch, similar to Pol Pot, which is quite exciting. I felt that this was a big whole and missed opportunity in the plot.

Racist overtones: it is implied that because my location is listed as a Mexican border town that I am human trafficking, the driving factor for this portrayal being that I am of hispanic descent seems, which to be honest, due to the extensive media coverage of the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein case, has become a very boring and played-out role as well as very implausible as all the arrests made have been of Caucasians. It is also an obvious stigma that all latinos are “Mexican” and it shows to the level of ignorance of the author and a lack of research and quite frankly, is a poor show of effort on part of the author. He could have at least made a mention of a specific cartel, but all he managed to do was generalize all Latinos and hispanics as “mexican” keeping in the typical American tradition of “everything south of Texas is Mexico.” In all I’d expect more of a backstory, even in short stories, and the lack of one made the side stories seem more than a bit mechanical.

What I liked

The return of Ned Scott this threw me for a loop! I did not expect this and it was exciting to hear Ned’s name again. The vibe it gave was that if a shadow government.

Bad guy cast as a bad guy @chekohler actually is a #hivebadguy and his role here mimicked his real life performance. Chekohler you motherfucker you

My inclusion I love attention even if it’s only that I appear in the third part of the series. Nuff said.

My part 🤓

Other than that it seemed more of a short story style #hivefanfiction and I felt it was poorly planned. The confusing part was how he didn’t let us know it was a #hivefanfiction, though upon reading it a second time I had an aha! moment of recognition. However, I love books. It’s just a shame it isn’t available in hard copy, as I would love to add that to my collection of alien theory and ghost stories.

I am unsure of why he hash tagged the FBI. I don’t think they have time to read #hivefanfiction of any sort as they are busy protecting us from music theft and video piracy 🏴‍☠️ !
