Chania is a couple of hours west of Heraklion and is often referred to as the Venice of Crete. Indeed, the Venetians exerted some influence on this seaside port town and today it resembles Venice for its colourful coastal houses and old town historical vibes.

I went to Chania about 8 years ago was a lovely place. Our hotel was near a Turtle Nesting Beach =D
