Aside from it being a -ber month, the weather getting cooler, sales and bazaars clamoring up on your calendars, and getting a fix out of holiday songs, what other signs out there give us this giddy feeling that Christmas is oh so near?
Well, how about holiday food? I don't mean the ham, fruit cakes or the queso de bola we're used to feasting over during Christmas. It's actually that purple sticky rice dripped with butter or margarine, with coconut and sugar, wrapped in banana leaves. It's a family favorite and I know that food craving isn't genetic but Grandma and Mom love it, and so do I.
Here's one of the vendors preparing my order using steamer. The smell is invigorating and the product is truly delicious. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out. If you have tried it, well don't worry. Puto bumbong is coming to town.
