One photo every day: Heating the house (40/365)

in #home7 years ago

Recently, Finnish people have been experiencing The Arctic climate and that inspired me to write this article. Lately, the temperature in the city where I live has been varying from -15 to -30 degrees and I guess that -30 degrees is not normal here.

I wanted to share with you how we are keeping our home warm and comfortable during the winter time. Basically, we have electric heaters to warm our house but we have also two fireplaces which are actually a fireplace and a baking oven. This fireplace system is the heart of our house. Those are placed in the middle of our home and some people have said that we have too much stone but I love how they bring the heat and create a cosy atmosphere.

To keep our home warm, we have to burn one load of wood every day when there is -20 degrees. We are not burning the wood simultaneously in the fireplace, we are using the baking oven every other day and so on. You can even cook at the same time when the baking oven is warm. After all, we don’t have to use the electricity to heat our house and that saves quite a lot money.

Hyvän näköinen kompleksi! Leivinuuni on kätevä, mutta niitä näkee harvoin nykyajan taloissa.

Onneksi on olemassa takka tällä säällä. Tulisi kyllä muuten vähän kylmempi.

Omasta mielestä ainaki näyttää tosi hyvältä, kun on noin paljon kiveä. Niistä tulee sellainen oma tunnelma :)

Totta! Ei yhtään liian paljon ole kiveä :) Ja ai että, olisi kyllä ihanaa kun olisi takka lämmittämässä! Näin kerrostalossa asuessa täytyy vaan tyytyä miehen kainaloon :D - Rouva Heinze

Great photo this fireplace is looking so cool good to know you have something to keep you worm in the cold of Finland

The stones are excellent because they accumulate the heat generated by the fire, also from my perspective I think they look very beautiful, so of those comments that have too many stones, better not to pay attention, your home is very comfortable. regards

I definitely like the stone. It looks cozy and unique!
