Ukiah, CA has a massive homelessness problem, some are saying it's the worst in the nation. With 1,238 homeless in the county (Mendocino) that's the highest per capita I've heard anywhere. With a county of only 88,000 people, that means over 1% is homeless.
Furthermore, there is NO shelter in the city. There is plans to build a winter shelter ready by November 1, 2017 and a community center/shelter by January 1st which needs to be approved by the city. At least many in the city are finally realizing the major problem that has been brewing for years and years.
Sharing Society's ultimate goal is not to provide handouts but to build and connect local communities, recycle/reuse and facilitate person to person exchange of 2nd hand goods.
