We’ve got a problem with values in this country.
In the United States--the world's richest country and "leader of the free world"--there are over 600,000 homeless people. More than 3,000 of them are in Dallas, Texas, and many are living under an overpass in an area called “Tent City”.
In this metroplex and other places, the government restricts how the average citizen can reach out to serve their fellow man, requiring a slew of stipulations be met, including permits and licenses (i.e., taxes) to feed a group of homeless people.
Do you understand these implications? It is illegal to hand hungry people sandwiches, unless you jump through hoops and pay lots of money.
We find this dishonorable (taxation is theft!). As we do not and will not bend to fit into systems that oppose our values and as we find it ludicrous to follow arbitrary rules and regulations that limit one’s inherent rights, we DO something about it.
We regularly harvest, prepare, deliver, serve, and clean up hundreds and hundreds of free meals to people in these impoverished areas and elsewhere, because it is our duty to share our overabundance with ALL. We do not and will not reduce ourselves to asking permission to show compassion!
We know from experience that anything is possible, and there’s more than enough of everything--it’s seriously simple when you’re committed to living the solution.
Argh! it's just insane isn't it? Poverty is not an accident it was carefully designed by the rich elite to serve the greedy rich elite and who are people to think they are higher up or any better? We are merely a speck in time and some people want to spend it treating others this way. When will they wake up?
Each day the Earth is more depleted than it was the day before. Hopefully they wake up soon!
As Frédéric Bastiat once said:
I didn't choose to be in this position... But since I am and I am forced to lose something, I most assuredly choose the latter. >:-|
Man's law is written by individuals who have proven to be liars, thieves, and frauds.
It is a sick society that values war, death, and destruction over caring and providing for people. I'm grateful to be part of the change!
How many times a day do Americans hear about wars and conflicts vs. how many times a day do they use the word "honor"? Honor is generally not in the average person's vocabulary. We're grateful to be part of the change too!
Yes. My dad taught me: "If you have a question of what to do, always do the friendly thing."
Tell it!
And, the City of Dallas takes the opportunity to confront people who are helping others--as if they delight in the opportunity to fill their own pockets. The Eden Knights stand strong together, not folding to the dishonorable actions of a government keeping the people down. Go Garden of Eden!! Keep shining the light on the darkness!
"just doing my job" says the mindless government official...
Thanks for the support!
It's truly amazing how The Garden of Eden continues to live and uphold its message - the wonderful realities you weave will soon be heard around the world and will inspire millions to finally start living and loving. Thank you for all you do, you've definitely changed my values for the better. Love you all!
It IS amazing, isn't it?! What fun we have! Thanks for your support; may we continue to inspire others to a whole new paradigm! Bless~*~
Thank you for supporting here on Steemit and also in the other ways that you do. The more we come together for common purpose the more powerful/affective we become~*~
Apathy is where lies the worst crimes of good people...
Desmond Tutu said, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor" ...which is not good enough for us--we stand unwaveringly in honor, and we choose FREEDOM!!
THANK YOU @berniesanders!!! We dedicate 100% of our proceeds to helping more people than ever before, and with your support we're going to be able to feed almost 300 FREE MEALS!!
The goe is the best
Thank you for noticing!
We should definitely feed, clothe, and pay for people from other countries while we starve our own and punish those who help them. Makes sense.
In 2015, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA spent $596 billion on military defense--more than the next 7 countries combined. What would society be like if we weren't spending over half a trillion dollars a year on the global monopoly of violence?
we would have more than enough of everything thats for sure~I~
<3
I knew about many of the concepts being applied here, but had never witnessed them in action until I came to know the garden. It's hard to stop smiling when you're here.
WE DO EXIST! We're here to prove that a better way is possible--it really is possible!!! Grateful for your support~*~
Yes!
What a life~*~
Yes!
What could be the possible reason why these people are there, they are homeless, of course they are but happen to them? I don't think that they were born homeless, something happened to these people that leads them to be in that situation.
Could it be a work of the government or an ambitious broker who doesn't have a heart for the poor. For them what's important is to gain enough for their own and even wanting to gain more and more. Are these people aren't ashamed of themselves, trying to be intelligent and yet they don't have kindness in their hearts.
We're not really into victim/victimizer mentality, and it is true that many born into poverty never escape that institution their entire lives. What we're pointing out is that this is the state of affairs, and it's not good enough for us because it doesn't reflect the values we live by. Rather than wait for someone else to do something about it--rather than waiting for someone to be ashamed or have a change of heart or whatever, we honor OUR power and OUR honor, and we embody the change we want to see!
Its good to know that a kind hearted person like you still exist. Only few people were gifted to have such kind of heart.
If you can check my post about a woman that really needs help which I posted yesterday, you can see that few people cares about it.
We're actually a community of 12+ people, held together by the vision of one man @quinneaker--he has the greatest heart of anyone we've ever heard of!
Illegal to feed those who need it the most? You ever see those signs at the beachside fish & chips to not feed the birds? What has the world come to?
Modern society reflects a set of values that we don't agree with, so we don't comply and instead lead by example.
Pray for the homeless.

most of the people will care for one part of the body and careless for the other part of the body. do you know which are those?
Hint. the very careless part is only carries the beauty of life to present.
It is applicable to any country, state, family , church or any other organisation.
Goes to show the insanity of the modern world. Homelessness is a problem I hope we can solve in our lifetime. It's such an incredibly sad state of affairs.
In Tucson where I lived for a while, the problem is also very bad. Luckily, there are tons of orgnaizations that do their best to help those in need.
Homelessness won't be solved by "top down" thinking rather we must get creative in our pursuit.
I read about a guy who drove his RV around offering the homeless free showers. It's something as simple as giving them the ability to share that soothes their dignity.
There are many reasons why people are homeless, but we must do our best to ensure they have as much resources as possible.
Thanks for shining the light on this important issue.
Rather than complain about problems, we live solutions!
Oh How I wish.... I refuse to go back to a 9-5. I cannot support this evil system.
I worked in a Pharma lab. I hated it. Not just the job, but the actual thing i was creating. Ugh.
I really hope Steemit can free those who want to be freed.
Whoever you are behind this account, your are one worth emulating as I said before.
There are many on Steemit, only a few a generous and humble as you.
Literally brings a tear to my eye.
