When it rains, it pours... Literally⛈

SO WE RECENTLY HAD SOME STORMS PASSED THROUGH, AND THERE WAS A LOT OF RAIN AND WIND.

THE STORM WAS NICE ENOUGH TO MESS UP MY ROOF AND LET IT LEAK INTO MY HOUSE... IN FIVE PLACES.

HERE IS MY BATHROOM CEILING!

KIMG2664.JPG

SO, I HAVE STARTED ON REPLACING MY ROOF. I STARTED LAST NIGHT, AND WORK ON IT TODAY.

KIMG2646.JPG

SO FAR IT HAS COST ME ABOUT $500. IT IS ONLY BEEN THAT CHEAP, BECAUSE OF A FRIEND HAVING A LOT OF THE MATERIAL BECAUSE OF THE WORK HE DOES.

OF COURSE, BECAUSE I WAS WORKING ON MY ROOF....IT RAINED. BUT ONLY AFTER I HAD REMOVED ALL THE SHINGLES.😁 TIME FOR THE TARP!!!

KIMG2653.JPG

OF COURSE, WHEN THE RAIN LET UP A BIT WE WERE BACK AT IT. MY BUDDY, HANDY, AND I. HERE'S THE FIRST NEW SHINGLE BEING LAID.👍

KIMG2656.JPG

SO WE'LL BE BACK AT IT AGAIN TOMORROW AND WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES TO DECIDE HOW MUCH WE'RE GOING TO DO.

ANYBODY OUT THERE EVER HAD TO REPLACE THEIR ROOF BEFORE? AND DID YOU DO IT YOURSELF OR HIRE SOMEONE?

Not long after we purchased our home we had some heavy rain and discovered a leak in a patch job the previous owner had done. We ended up getting a pro in to fix it as I'm about as handy as a screen door on a submarine when it comes to these things

I've done a little bit of everything in my life, including roofing. But...it'd been a while. So, my friend Handy came by to help. We'll get it done. No problem.😁 Besides, Evan gets to help and he really loves it!!!

Keeps his mind busy for a while.

Nice. And cheap labour is always a bonus..

If you knew how much he ate, you'd know it's not really cheap labor.😂

Haha. Well played. Well played indeed.

sorry...I can't give comment anything because I never replace my roof before, hahaha 😂

Then you are very lucky.😁

not really ... I've also experienced the same thing with you, when the wind storms come with rain, our roof is also damaged and leaking so we have to prepare many buckets to accommodate the rain drop .. after that we also fix the roof but it's not me who fix it because I'm a woman and do not understand things like that 😁

Well, luckily you were able to get it fixed. I got part of mine done. But have several more days of work to fix the whole roof. I took a break and built a dog house today.

Eeek! Oh yes we have had to replace our roof. A tree growing too close to the house started rubbing against the edge of the roof. We didn't know until it started raining - water dripping on us while we were sleeping!

You are a brave and talented man to tackle the job yourself, even with help!

He leak in the bathroom is right above the toilet. So when you go potty, you need an umbrella.😂

lol Yes, time to fix the roof!

Be careful up there, if I was closer I would like to help. Take care John. :-)

If you were closer, I would like you to help.😂

Sorry for the inconvenience my friend but i'm happy to see you working on it with that positive energy plus seeing Evan this happy means this can be a great chance to distract and help him forget the hard times he's faced lately. Nice day my friend.

Very good points sir. Have you ever had to deal with a leaking roof?

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Yeah kind of helped my father too in some roof repairs..

Of course many times because our roof before was made of nipa. If it is too old already there will be lot of holes and rain can pass through it. We hire someone to replace them.

Nipa huh? I will look into seeing what that is. Our roof has shingles. They're tar and rocks smashed together into sheets that we nail on.

I haven't had to before but when I was younger I did have to help someone who did by running wheel barrels of debris which was fun enough I wouldn't enjoy the being up in the sun part lol but I do plan on buying cheep & renovating when do buy a home in the future

Luckily it was only 75 to 80 degrees and overcast most of the time. I've got one third of it do e and will probably be working on it again on this coming weekend. Hopefully I'll stay lucky.

yess Ill keep my thoughts on great weather for ya through the whole project!
