Hello, my name is Joshua. I am The Homeschool Kid.
Today I am going to show you how I look for metal with my metal detector.
The metal detector.
I am mostly looking for treasure near our chicken coop. Nearby is the site of a 19th century cabin. The previous owner of our property told us that the man who owned it one hundred years ago was very superstitious. He used to throw coins into his fireplace for good luck. I would love to find that fireplace and those coins!
These are the things I have found at that site, but I am always looking in my spare time.
A horse shoe that my little brother found.
A brake shoe.
A lightning rod?
A rusty nail.
A Canning lid.
Pieces of iron.
Flint?
A washer.
A piece of wood stove door.
A mystery item.
Watch these videos to see my metal detecting in action.
My findings.
Finding a washer with my metal detector.
I will keep you updated with things that I find.

Cool Joshua. What kind of metal detector do you have?
The brand name is Bounty Hunter, but I do not know the name of the model.
Good luck in finding the coins!!!!
You know I was thinking, that fireplace had to have the ashes removed from it pretty regularly. Those coins would have been scooped up and thrown out with the ash. I would be detecting where ever that man dumped his ashes 100 years ago. Hopefully it wasn't in the pond.
I hope it wasn't in the pond.
Into the garden.
Great idea Dustin!
Thank you! Is this the Greens from Ohio?
Yup!
Very interesting finds - please post when you find other things!
