How to start with self-sufficiency? Mushrooms!

Growing your own mushrooms.

You can collect them in the forests or you can grow them in your backyard, even in your garage.
You don´t need much space or other stuff. Just a candle, a drilling tool and some cheese-wax. In the net you can buy, Mushroom Myzel. For the Beginning you should start with Pleurotus ostreatus.
Here are some information about the shroom.

Take a piece of wood, must be pretty fresh cut and it must bewood from deciduous trees. Drill a view holes and put the Myzel inside, now you close the holes with cheese-wax. Now you have to put the wood to a shady and wet place, best under a Tree. if there is moss, its a good place. Take the Mushroom-wood and put it a little bit away from the ground. You can use other wood or bricks. Now cover it up with a plastic sheet. Nearly done.

Water it just if the weather is very dry or if you see the wood breaking. Wait for about one year, until you see the white myzel. Then you can dig a hole 1/3 as deep as the wood is long and put it in the soil. Still on a shady and wet place.
Best time to start is spring. If you are lucky and the myzel is fast you can grab you first delicious mushrooms in the next winter. Now you have Mushrooms for about 5 to 10 years.

Good luck.
