My husband has been a whirlwind of searching online for marketplace sales, craigslist things and whatever, or wherever, he can think of to shop online looking for a good deal locally.

Well in his quest Friday night he came across the greenhouse shown above. (similar ones online retail anywhere from $65-$120/USD), so when he saw this one for $50, he knew it would be perfect. The person who had it posted only used it one season, as her husband had build a new one.

Currently I have a very small greenhouse which is about half of the one pictured; mine is 3'-long x 3'-wide and 6' in height. Mr Golden D has known of my desire to add the second one and I have been looking online for a new one; I just haven't had the time to REALLY dig in and find one and order it.

My current greenhouse

Well with spring officially arriving tomorrow (March 20 - 6:28 AM EDT- 10:28 UTC) and my indoor grow tent loaded to the maximum capacity, I am dreaming of getting outside to start putting up the old greenhouse and getting all the gardening supplies cleaned, in order and ready. We've been having some phenomenal weather the last two weeks; with the exception of a few snowy days and moments spattered here and there. Friday night we actually hauled out the kettle charcoal BBQ and grilled up some pork steaks. Mhmmm, tasted SO good!

But onto the greenhouse search.
The greenhouse he found is about 5'-wide, 6'-long(deep) and 7'-in height. EXACTLY what I would have chosen

So we contacted the seller and went to get the bigger greenhouse Friday.

To say I'm happy and excited is an understatement!

So the new greenhouse sits boxed up in the shed with my first greenhouse; both waiting to be brought out, cleaned up and constructed. I sat down yesterday while relaxing (after a nap) and binge watching on some docu-series on the TV, and started writing up my spring garden to-do list. You know the basics:

  • Trim tree in front yard
  • Weed herb and flower bed
  • Get reciprocal saw to cut 55-gallon barrels in half
  • Clean/scrub greenhouses
  • Set up greenhouses
  • Make more herb and flower stick labels

And the list goes on and on.

Now that I have the second greenhouse and know the area I will have to work with, I can settle in and figure out what will go where, what will be in the ground (regular garden area) and what can be in containers and pots inside the new greenhouse. The small greenhouse will be for annual herbs mainly; perennials will go in the ground once they are mature enough so the roots can take hold.

I've had a rough few days here personally and tonight I have plans to sit down and do my final plotting out of the garden and greenhouses. I have my graph paper, pencil, list of plants and herbs and get it all planned out.

With spring officially arriving tomorrow I am ready for the outdoor gardening season to get here. I have so much to do, so many chores to get done and a shed to organize so I can have room for transplanting seedling into larger containers.

I have six 5-gallon buckets ready for action, as well as a few few three-gallon buckets for smaller greens.

Just hearing all the birds starting to chirp every day is getting my heart and soul into the gardening season.

I wish I could have a greenhouse but every thing we grow is outside in our garden. I love the way you set it up, I hope it is very good for the plants!

very nice nature...my dear friend @goldendawne, thank you for sharing with us.

Thank you for sharing your lists and hard work. It gets more important everyday to learn and practice the skill of growing. And unpredictable weather makes it even more challenging. Best of luck and good-will.

Yeah good ol' Ma Nature- always giving us gardeners a run for the money when winter turns to spring.

Nothing more exciting than seeing those little green tops pop out of the soil. It just makes you happy doesn't it! Now with another greenhouse, you'll be planting like crazy!
Blessings to you @goldendawne!

Oh I know!! As soon as those little green sprouts start, I fall in love!

That is so exciting!!!

I cannot wait until winter is over. I miss my greenhouse 😊

Yeah exactly!!! I am anxious because now I have two greenhouses to lose myself in every day! I told my husband.. imagine all the fun I can have!

We've got a lot of seedlings that want to go outdoors but the weatherman says we'll be welcoming spring in with 2" of snow tomorrow. 59 degrees and sunny today. It's crazy.

Nice find on the greenhouse. We have 2 small ones (3x3) but a larger one would make a nice addition.

Yeah I kind of outgrew my 3x3 greenhouse midway through last summer. lol- I tend to overdo things sometimes

Looking good!!!!!! Really growing well and the new greenhouse is a really good size.

Can't wait to see your garden develop more!

Yes I am hoping I don't outgrow this new greenhouse too. I may have an addiction to gardening if that happens- haha

We finally are receiving some much needed rain in northeast Kansas today. I am excited to see other herbs start to pop up out of the soil (like my comfrey and dill). Right now all I can see is grass and motherwort everywhere! I love this time of the year.

This is probably my favorite time of year! Everything seems to come to life; trees get their blooms and leaves starting, animals are coming out of the woods- love those rabbits and so does my dog. EVerything is green, the snow is gone and the sun is so warm

Yeah, our cats love the baby bunnies, too! We are already seeing the rodent carnage uptick in the last month. When we first moved to our home in the country, the yard looked like a battle zone and the rodents lost, which is good!

Do you have high winds where you live @goldendawne? Our first greenhouse was very light and blew over after a nasty wind/rain storm. Our next greenhouse seems a lot more stable since it has a wooden frame. Live and learn!

Oh, how exciting that all is!!! The babies are growing so well!

It's barely 30F out there today. No outside work for me! Love seeing all your seedlings that are growing. I had my Walla Walla Sweet onions come up overnight. Still waiting on the rest of the seeds to come up from last tuesday's planting...

Awesome about your onions!! I will be checking on my garlic this weekend. Still chilly here too... I think it's supposed to be 45-degrees by the beginning of next week. I just wish we could make the 60-degree mark and stay above it

Oh, me too, me too!! I have so much I want to do out there, and can't do it in 40's temps....

I am glad to see that your plants are doing so well! I have a little homemade green house that I need to get setup or get the growlight out because mine are needing more light, but I am doing some research for a much bigger greenhouse. Best of Luck!

My greenhouse from last year was just a starter one for me to see how I could have success. Now that I know.. it's time for a bigger one... it was easy to convince hubby of it too

I have that same greenhouse! I hope you enjoy that Ice Plant! Here’s the post I did on it, so you can see some of its uses. :)

Ohhhhh, I could kiss you!!! Thank you for sharing this pic and post!!!

It’s a great feeling to see spring is finally here, isn’t?! Congrats on the new greenhouse.
I’m so jealous of you... I’m lying here on my bed, recovering from surgery, and through the window I can see the sun shine in my abandoned garden. it hurts a bit that I can’t get started yet, but it is what it is ;0)
Having a greenhouse gives you a lot more options, IMHO. I had my first one last season. It was cheap, it didn’t survive winter, but it gave shelter to my precious tomato plants.
A couple of months ago, somebody gave me a professional hoop tunnel greenhouse. We still need to set it up, but it requires some digging, and since I’m not allowed to dig, we’re trying to gather some people to help us with it.
I won’t be allowed to pull over the plastic either, so I guess I’ll just supervise - lol.

How I love those pics of those baby plants. If you ask me, there’s no better feeling than to see a seed turn into a seedling, and into a full-grown plant afterwards...
(Although I’m not allowed to do a lot, I am cheating a bit: I’ve got a propagator and a 2 windows ills full of germinating seeds. Maybe I can put a post up later today...)

Just hearing all the birds starting to chirp every day is getting my heart and soul into the gardening season.

I heard the birds today too! It's still very cold and wintery but it lifted my spirits. Your seedlings and plants all look wonderful! Way to go on the second green house! Exciting!!

Personal greenhouse is the best! Wish we had more of lands to plant our own greenhouse here in Asia. Land is scarce and expensive here. @goldendawne ps: Love those cute looking label sticks ;)
