I'll take a picture of it next time I'm out there! The previous owner (whose family grew up there) told us a story...but I can't remember if he was talking about the pear tree or the black walnut tree out front. They use to shoot the trunk of it with a shotgun every few years! Something about stressing the tree helped it create better fruit?? So funny

I just love the old methods of doing things. I don't know about the science of them, but they sure used trial and error as their judge.
