How to Make Natural Soothing Body Oil
•1 cup of Parsley leaves (dried or fresh)
•1 quart Almond or Olive oil
•1 quart jar with a lid
Here is a recipe I've used for many years.
This soothing body oil is great for dry skin. Especially for skin exposed to work or weather.
The main ingredients are both natural and safe to use for all ages. Almond and Olive oils have been used since ancient times for skin and beauty care products.
Parsley is easy to grow in a home garden and well known to contribute to healthy skin. The seeds are used for the extraction of an oil called Apiol, which has been known to have healing properties.
To Make this Oil:
Place the Parsley in the jar.
Warm the oil to the point where you can still touch it. Body temp, not to hot or cool.
Pour the warm oil over the Parsley in the jar and mix well so the herb is well covered.
Place the covered jar on a sunny window sill or in a warm room for 3 days.
Get ready to enjoy a soothing body massage.
There are several ways to strain the oil from the herb.
By hand, squeezing the oil from the Parsley into the jar.
Pour the oil herb mixture through a strainer or cheese cloth
Pour the mixture into a large plastic baggie, seal the bag then poke some holes in one corner and squeeze the oil out.
You can use a large spoon to press the herb against the side of the jar or use a strainer held over the jar.
Discard parsley.
Bottle the oil in a clean jar with a tight lid. No need to refrigerate. Use as needed and as often as you would like.
Warm the oil slightly before massage but do not overheat.
Be careful not to heat oil to hot.
Do not get into eyes or ears.
You can add other herbs for fragrance or healing affects.
Enjoy !
