Cultivation of Honey and the Way of Harvesting

in #homesteading7 years ago

Hello friends steemians all, today I will share my experience on a sunny Sunday yesterday, where I went to my uncle's house where he is a natural bee honey farmer, there I was very interested in the cultivation produced by my uncle, not only his great benefits , But very easy way of cultivation. First in fishing these wild bees colonies the environment should be supportive. The meaning around us is the environment that is available enough sources of bee feed in the form of Nectar and pollen, for example the area is a mountain that many flowering trees as bee feed.

The first step is to Create a cage or a cage from the stem or wood coconut, box-shaped from the board, keep this material thick enough 2cm so that the bees comfortable and also durable. Make sure the material for the cage or honeybee cage is free of materials and chemical smells such as ex-sawmill oil, paint, etc. If there is oil etc. clean it by rubbing it with water or rain showering

Date of harvesting the exact honey bee is there pitutur from the village's elders if the bee harvest is the right time when the young date of the month of Java or hijriyah. But I do not think it's right, because even though the young date, if not the spring, the colony's nest is empty empty or just a little honey.

A very precise time is in the mid or after flowering season that many nectar blooms in the area.

Honey cages that have been occupied and store a lot of natural honey in it will soon be harvested.

The first step is to give space at the time of taking, and try not to be too pressed or exposed to sharp objects because this is very sensitive broken, and if broken honey will spill everywhere.

remove or separate the honey with the cage box affixed with the knife but with slowly.

Lift the honeycage and make sure the cage does not fall.

The shape of a honeycage that has a hollow shape. characteristic feature of honeycomb that is ready to harvest is when lifted cage feels heavy because laden honey. And when viewed by a honeycomb full of honey that had been covered by the night bees or bees wax. See picture below white is honey in a nest that has been covered with candles and ready for harvest

we are sure to stay away from the hutches and if we do not use the equipment we will experience a sting. Certainly if you want to harvest and see clearly must use a safe clothes from bee stings.

A beehive that is still dirty and still infested by the bees must be removed first, but in a subtle way like using a brush, so that the bees are not disturbed and not looking for another cage to collect their honey.

Cleaning using a brush.

And when the honeycomb is clean. We may clean the cover of the honey cage with a thin knife so that the honey will be easily out of the nest.

Cleaning using a knife.

Then the last stage is the extortion stage, here we certainly squeeze the honey with the condition of the nest is not included in the container, that is by using a filter and honey containers are wide enough so that no thing we do not want.

Then the honey is put into place, or the usual place provided, and the honey is ready to be marketed and ready for use. Natural and healthy honey

The brand of honey that my uncle made was Boem I Madu.

Thank you for following my journey in harvesting my uncle's honey. Honey is a food that has many benefits for both health and beauty, in the world of health honey is very good for baby children so that the child has a strong immune system, not only for adults, too. And many more uses of honey in the world of health.

In the world of honey beauty is very popular that serves to keep skin moist and keep skin soft, and honey if in beauty is often used as a facial cleanser, for friends who have facial acne, blackheads and other spots. Friends can use honey by putting it on the face and wait until 30 minutes and then rinsed. Not only that countries in developed countries honey is often used as a bath and very good for our skin. So a short story from me may be useful and add insight to us all. Thank you and see you @batubara

I love this Post. Bee's are so important to me as I am an avid Gardener. I never really saw or knew all the steps in harvesting the honey. I use 100% pure honey for a lot of my home remedies, such as the common cold in my kids. Thanks ever so much for sharing. Upvoted and Following.
