Life...Round Two finds me homesteading in the Missouri Ozarks on a lil mountaintop enjoying sunsets like this.
This is a story of a dream come true.
Here we are as we began this adventure. Full of Love and determined to Live a Life we Loved.
On an early April morning almost 3 years ago, from a lil Arkansas Ozark mountaintop, I more or less quit my job and the search for our homestead began. By the end of April, we had found almost 20 acres that felt like it could be home.
Missouri Ozarks here we come!
My kids were grown, my folks were gone, it was MY turn. I threw "should" out the window and walked into the woods. My dream had become reality! We gave up our apartment and made "Camp Home".
We spent the summer/fall of 2015 camping, clearing land and making plans while waiting for the financial details to wrap up. The day came in mid-November. The land was ours...Paid in Full! Let the real adventure begin.

Home Building Began
~poles in holes~
The house went up kinda quick after that. My guy and his cousin were our mastermind builders. Myself and one other were smiling diligent "go-fers". Roof work required extra hands and a visit from a crane. We hired in 2 local helpers, and a beautiful friendship with @freedompoint began.
Life was a challenge for two weeks. We built our home during the shortest days of the year, while still sleeping in tents with heaters. Mornings and evenings were spent sharing a community space tarp house, keeping warm and eating well in great company. The days were busy building.
Pics of the next two weeks.
We took a breather over the Christmas holiday. Time to warm up and enjoy hot water and family. The next week was floors and doors. We treated ourselves to a hotel room this week... Which was glorious.
My first piece of floor!
The first one to sleep beneath our roof, a house warming/dog training gift from @freedompoint. The housewarming part turned out better than the dog training did. This colorful guy moved deeper in to the woods within the first week, chased off by said dog.

~ The woodstove moved in ...
~ and so did we!
The journey continues...debt free...working forward as we can afford to.
Whew! Enough of the story for this post. I will leave you with a promise of more about this homestead to come.
Today I am Grateful that I am warm and snug in my forever home, build for me by the hands of those I Love.
Dreams really do come true!
what an inspiring and soul-filled story.
Love watching how others started out in their homesteading life and venture!
Thank you. It's re-inspiring to tell it. It is so easy to forget how far we've come.
Wow. What am amazing story. I'd never really heard of homesteading until I joined Steemit. There seem to be a decent crowd of you gathering here. Looking forward to hearing more of your stories.
It does seem to be more prominent these days. I think people are looking to be more self sustaining. The steemit homestead community is surprisingly gigantic, around the world.
I think if you follow homesteaders you will be learning lots! Glad our lifestyle has caught your eye.
Oh my... that was really inspiring @borrowedearth (I love that name by the way! We are calling our future homestead No Man's Land...even though we own in outright I still wanted some sort of "no one can truely own land" kind of name)
Beatiful house, simple but it looks just spaciois enough. It is so nice to see you started with a "Camp Home". I soon will have a video tour of our almost 20 acres in the Catskills!
Lalk to you soon!

Wonderful!!! We would love to build a house someday! Wow I keep hearing more and more about the Missouri Ozarks!!! My there seem to be a LOT of homesteaders there!
It's a DIY friendly kind of a place. Very desirable and agreeable and affordable.
YES! congrats! debt free and living your dream! that's the way life should be. I had to laugh at the two dogs in the bed. When we first moved to the land, we learned what a two dog night meant pretty fast (we lived in a tent in winter so I can sympathize with how great that hotel room must've been!).
Best continued wishes from right around the corner in the Ozarks ;)
I wouldn't trade the tent time for anything. We gained so much from doing with so little. Every story needs a dog pic...they are family. We need to do an Ozark homesteaders gathering sometime!
yeah! my friend amelia holds intermittent homesteading/farmer gatherings. we just had one last sunday. i'll let you know when the next one is :)
Please do.
Yes!! You guys are crushing it! It is cool to see it build through the pictures. It felt like it took aot longer in person haha. 🙃
Thanks! It's a great feeling!
Congratulations to you, and continued homesteading success...
Thanks
Love your home and the sequence of pictures showing it's raising. Post and beam construction seems under appreciated in our area but is so solid and versatile. The two barns we've built use a smilar style and I find them rustic and beautiful. Looking forward to more on the family adventure. Thanks for sharing.
My guy came with a background building like this. We leaned toward practical because we are aging and know what can be lost in the process. Now that we are secure we can be more creative in other areas of the homestead. I am glad you liked the pics.
Love to see that you are getting to live your dream! Wishing you the best of success on this journey.
Thank you...this was the easy part...
"Debt free." AWESOME!!! I have a dream of ignoring the bankers so hard they go away... your dream helps lol!
May it be so...haha

Kudos to you for finding your way! Debt free is the only way. Do what you can when you can. That's what I m doing. Little by little my piece of paradise is becoming a reality! Loking forward to hearing more from you.
It's certainly an adventure. I look forward to sharing more of the story.
Absolutely amazing! Congratulations to you!
Thank you. I certainly feel blessed.
This is amazing! What a fantastic progression from your camp home to a full fledged construction, though I have to say the camp home looks so charming as well. I especially love the photo of the rooster on the rafter. What an excellent start, and I'm so glad you're making your dreams come true. Kudos!
The camp was great! We warn visitors that essentially we are still camping...but indoors! Life is very rustic here. Thanks for reading.
Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! I love building, DIY, and construction posts! I can't wait for you to show more!
Thanks! There will be more! This is a great place to share the story.
Awesome! I hope to be able to do this one day.
Believe...plan...and work on your courage to leap. Best of luck.
It's so fun to see it start to finish!
It really is! I had many more pics than I thought I did.
Fantastic progress, and what a gorgeous sunset.
Looks like you are on a great love filled route towards happiness and hOMe sweet hOMe 💝
We are! Grateful for the life we live. Hope it continues to inspire others.

Nice job on the build. It's a pretty satisfying day when you can hang your hat on a wall that you built. Hope you are enjoying your home.
It is certainly a good feeling! And it keeps happening! The wall gets more solid and finished all the time!
I love it! Well done! Debt free is the only way to go. Thank you for sharing this.
Loved this story! Your photos are great, really telling how things went. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.
