Kombucha is delicious and so good for you. I even give it to my goats if they are under the weather. Or after they've kidded - they love it! Have you tried Jun @thelaundrylady? (love the name ;) I actually prefer Jun. But then it's probably because it ferments quicker and my Kombucha scoby's can't keep up with my husband! Thanks for the great tips. My favourite is also lemon balm or verbena. I add dried nettle to all the tea brews but I'm going to try your method. Thank you. PS Your bottling looks very pretty.

Wow, you give it to your goats? That's awesome! I have not heard of people giving it to animals. I let my dog smelled my finished kombucha but he just turned his head like he didn't like it. I have not tried verbena. What a great idea! I will have to try that one. I assume it's a viable option if you are already brewing with it?
I love looking at those bottles also. They are like pieces of art to me with yummy goodness inside :) .Thanks for stopping by!
My goats fight each other for a drink! I've tried chopping up excess scoby to feed to the chickens. But to be honest my goats get all the love. I have only ever made kombucha with black and/or green tea plus the herbs. Lemon verbena is one of my favourites which I include. I used to do peppermint as well but your explanation about the volatile oils explains why the scoby doesn't thrive with too much peppermint. Looking forward to following you. I've just perused your garden photos. Homesteading bliss
I have heard of Jun and watched others brew it, but I have never tried it myself. Might have to try that sometimes!
